Alito told the ladies to vote. So they did.

Alito in Dobbs: "Women are not without electoral or political power."

Women in Kansas: You got that right, asshole.

Oh, and perhaps more impressive (and problematic for the GOP): 70% of Kansans who registered to vote after the Dobbs decision was handed down on June 24th are women.

I think this is right.

Per focus groups: Woman will say the economy is most important when asked an open-ended question about their top issue. But when asked about abortion specifically they get extremely animated and say it matters a great deal on how they’ll vote.

I am begging pollsters and strategists to understand that passion is on the pro choice side, and that one of the jobs of your candidate is to make abortion an issue, and not just read a poll, see choice polling second or third, and talk like a robot about whatever polls first.

They were written up in John Browns letters once and I have that but no stories. They were called brave men. I did not learn of this until one of the older people in the family mentioned it slightly, once. It was kept quiet, likely because it might have offended Jesus or some such crap. I found 2 of the gravestones not too far from where I live and I live pretty much where they had lived but I find no records. The eldest that rode with him became the first Justice of the Peace in the Free State. I know only these little things and have not had the time to really research it but I am proud that before JB became more violent my ancestors helped him with only the threat from a squirrel gun (from the document). They did fight in the Sacking of Lawrence battle and at Black Jack but honestly this is all I know. My kids have no interest in this so it is in the books of that time if anyone ever cares. Most of my relatives deny this but it is in the history books if they cared to look and in the genealogy.

Ripley, Ohio, home of the Underground Railroad. I had not idea how wide spread it was in the state I have lived in all my life. Visted there a few years ago.

I love History.

looked at our State History Museum and found pretty much all I could find.

I have always thought that once my farm critters were gone I would do just this. I just lost 3 oldies in the heat and I have 3 very old horses left so my time is getting more abundant.

Living in the Capitol city there are a lot of resources. I am glad you mentioned this as I have been just trying to get things more organized and straight at home. I will set a short goal and treat myself with a trip to the State resources.

There is an Underground railroad house not 1/4 mile from me. The people living in it have not had it registered because that would make them have to deal with all of this stuff. It was a big one as the train went right by them and still runs across the road from my house. This area is flooded with history and this is where my fathers family all came when they left New England. There is more about that part of the family than here. I am a DAR who has not decided to associate with that organization or not. I like to do things at my pace and not be pushed to follow group rules. LOL

I have a friend who told me about her ancestors here in Kansas, she used to be a DUer. Her ancestor was a large part of the railroad and because of that I did know about Ohio having quite a lot of underground everything! We were almost able to connect our ancestors but never enough to really know.

There used to be a restaurant in Painesville, Ohio called Lutz's and if my memory serves me correctly, I believe it was a stop on the underground railroad.

Hmmm...now I need to do some research to see if my memory is correct.

Too many kids, no matter how wanted or loved after they're born stresses a family budget, no matter what the type of family is - nuclear, generational, single parent, wealthy or not.

Women - and those intersex that can become pregnant - are aware the time consuming states of pregnancy and infant raising carry with them all sorts of health, economic and security instabilities.
Unless, of course, they've been raised emotionally infantilized in hyper-religious or masculinized societies.
Just my two cents

While there are many other important issues, Democrats should be relentless on the abortion/choice issue to the exclusion of any others. Keep the message simple. It's a winner for us. If we win on abortion then we will have the numbers in Congress to accomplish many of the other things we support.

Mockalito is unfit to sit on that bench. None of the Subversive 6 are fit to sit on that bench. They've ignored the U.S. Constitution, decades of precedent, and logic in order to inflict their extremist ideology on the nation.

Your can't really separate the two.

A great deal of the economic gains, stature and employment opportunities for women in this country is the result of women being able to choose if, or when they "choose" to have children.

Choice IS an "economic" issue!

Because women with children don’t get promoted as much as those without, that helps his career. That’s some pretty fked-up logic to deny every woman bodily autonomy.

Pro choice is not necessarily "liberal." Pro choice says it's the woman's choice. Yes, I know there are women who sincerely believe that a fetus is a real live baby, and there are women who are think feel that choice is only for them but not for all women, but overall women think that it's their choice, whatever the circumstances are and despite Alito's nasty rewriting of the constitution, most women are appalled by his assertion that we don't have an innate right to privacy. That reaches all the way down to the gut of almost every woman I know.
