'Road House' Remake With Jake Gyllenhaal

'Road House' Remake With Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo And More Set At Prime Video

https://news.yahoo.com/road-house-remake-jake-gyllenhaal-205536600.html

The remake stars Jake Gyllenhaal and will be directed by Doug Liman and produced by Joel Silver. It is a reimagining of the 1989 cult classic that starred Patrick Swayze.

The film will also star Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior and Gbemisola Ikumelo.

In the film, Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who accepts a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but quickly learns that not everything in this idyllic tropical paradise is as it appears.
Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery also star.

Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry wrote the script. Joel Silver will produce the film for Silver Pictures with Aaron Auch, JJ Hook, and Alison Winter working as executive producers.

“'Road House' is a homerun for us. Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it is also a big, fun, broad audience movie,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Joel, Doug, and this great cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, and for them to come together to reimagine the classic MGM film as an action-packed adventure for our global audience.”

I think it’s one of those “so bad, it’s good” movies. I chuckled a bit.

The music was pretty good, though.

I can't believe I found it and watched it before my husband did. After he found me watching it, it became one of his favorites.

It is what my kids call a "Dad movie."

It’s true: that movie is bad, bad, bad from the start-of-file mark to the end-of-file mark. But it’s almost a live-action cartoon; the only thing they could have done to make it better was put a Snidely Whiplash mustache on Ben Gazzara so he’d have something to twirl in his fingers. But come on: a philosopher who busts heads for a living, Roy deSoto from Emergency as a bar owner, a sexy doctor, a cocktail waitress who’s also a rock singer…how does it get any better than that?

If they remake Road House they’ll try to get away from that and make a good movie, and that’ll fuck everything up.

Besides, this isn’t the first time they tried remaking this wonderful film. Remember when they wanted to cast Ronda Rousey as Dalton?

But you can well imagine the RW’s heads explode if they made a movie out of Mickey Rat or some of Robert Crumb’s works.

Which would probably be really popular in this era of legal weed. (For those that haven’t seen it, the Freak Brothers strips all revolve around the smoking of marijuana.)

And speaking of marijuana, what could be a really fun movie is Cheech and Chong starting and running a dispensary.

And after that, they can pull out the old "multi-universe" crap and extend the shelf-life for a few more years.

Basically, I think they've just gotten too damned lazy to legitimately steal story ideas anymore.
