Again, a shout out to Chris Hayes and his show today about global warming

and what role government should have in dealing with it's implications. His show is one of the very few left that gives substantial time to a subject matter and discuss it without all the finger pointing and partisan rancor. News shows now are all about rankings, viewership, and ad time. It is nice to see a show that believes the viewership is intelligent and can sit and watch a subject matter that goes on longer than 1.5 minutes.

in the coal mines or elsewhere, decrease the size of house I can afford or the power/size of the vehicle I wish to drive, make me more reliant on public transportation, make me accept that we have to cooperate with other countries and people in the world, etc.. etc., etc.

IOW, as long as the price for combatting global warming is paid for my others - Big Oil (unless I work there), Big Coal (unless I work there), the Chinese (less pollution per capita than the US), Europe (never mind, already have strict pollution controls) - I'm all for it.

Point being that combatting global warming means a more modest life style. Not necessarily a bad life style just different, more ''European". I don't see much support from any part of the political spectrum here. Everyone seems to want cheap gas and plenty of it; large cars and houses.
