What happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force?

It's an age-old question. To apply it to America's political reality, it would be, what happens when an ideology of conspiracies and lies meet an ideology of the status quo with rules and verifiable evidence? That seems to be where we are as a nation, in my opinion.

What are the consequences? Where does it end? How does it end?

Is it possible for it to end well? That doesn't seem to be part of the plan. It's like two locomotives going full speed toward each other and there is nothing to stop them from colliding. What happens? Calamity and devastation.

It will do little good if one locomotive decides to stop but the other continues at full speed. The end result will be the same.

What is the answer?

In any complex system, patterns have momentum. When an impulse hits a barrier, energy is transferred via changes in momentum, the high-speed impactor loses speed or spreads out; the steel wall deforms or ruptures. Vortices form if the environment is sufficiently fluid, and these transfer momentum outward. The system adapts, changing the flows within it, adding energy here, removing it there. Actions cause reactions, which elicit counter-reactions.

The Republicans have engaged in overreach. They've followed their natural impulses, which is to engage in bullying, criminal behavior and abuse, and have reached a point where they're immune from facing the consequences of their actions. The problem (for them) is that reactions take a while to manifest. You see this a lot in the behaviors of extroverts bullying introverts. Extroverts taunt, throwing one insult after another, and the introvert seemingly does nothing, though internally they are getting angrier and angrier). Eventually, a threshold gets breached, and the introvert reacts with extreme force. Extroverts refer to this as passive-agressive behavior, because they are unable to see the signs that the introvert is angry until it all comes out at once. Republicans are egotistical extroverts, Democrats in general are more reserved introverts. It's difficult to get Democrats moving in the same direction because they are usually very distracted, but when they do get focused, they can be very dangerous people.

TFG was thrown out by one of the largest margins in twenty years, and the Democrats began the laborious work of picking up the pieces, even as the Republicans attempted a coup and tried to overturn civil rights that took fifty years to achieve. The Democrats focused on TFG as the problem and removed his power base. He is considerably weakened. The GOP attempted it again with the Dobbs decision and the anti-abortion and anti-civil-rights, efforts at the state level but now the sleeping giant is waking up.

Our karma is about to roll over their dogma.
