If not for inflation I believe the Democrats could defy the midterm jinx. Now I'm not confident in making any kind of prediction.

If we had a fifteen seat majority, we’d be definitely in good numbers. The fact that we have under five is not particularly great. Hopefully the pro health care gets us a continued majority.

Roe V Wade decision has likely created one of the largest volunteer armies that Democrats will ever see in a midterm -or even in a general election. Because a massive volunteer base can substantially make polls irrelevant, I wouldn't be surprised if we win a record number of house and Senate seats this year.

That being said,: the skepticism is welcome by me because it will likely keep a lot of us working diligently up to election day. We must expect the worst -and fight like hell to make it the best.

There are people who would literally give up their freedom and I know what literally means for cheap gas and food. I'm not insensitive to high prices. I have been broke before. But prices will eventually stabilize. If we lose our freedom we have lost everything. The Republicans are not a traditional center-right party. They are more like Marine Pen's National Rally.

They'll have to explain to their minority audience why they lost without conceding that they're in the minority. You can see it happening in the wake of the Kansas vote: The initiative was confusing! (Well, duh, you meant it to be that way). Voter turnout was unexpectedly high! (Again, you were counting on a primary-style low turnout election to make women second class citizens, and a majority of Kansans don't want to do that) Forces outside of Kansas secretly spent a lot of money to defeat the initiative! (Gee, that's too bad; don't like having your own tactics used against you, do you).

Dobbs may kill them if KS is any measure. They deserve to die...metaphorically at least.
