NYC mayor slams Texas governor for "horrific" busing of migrants

New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Sunday slammed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for sending migrants on buses to Democratic-run cities in the U.S., calling Abbott's actions "unimaginable."

Adams made the remarks Sunday as he greeted a bus carrying 14 asylum seekers from Texas border towns at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Their arrival followed 40 others who arrived on Friday.

It is just a small portion of asylum seekers that have been transported from border towns since April, when Abbott began putting migrants on buses to Democrat-run cities after Biden's efforts to end Title 42, a pandemic-related emergency policy that enables border agents to expel migrants quickly.

After welcoming the families to New York City, Adams slammed Abbott for using the families as political pawns.

until I looked up exactly what I typed

which was "hand it to republicans" (I did say TX but I get it)

and this was my response

If you say you have (got) to hand it to someone you mean that they have been very successful or skillful:

I apologize for my post. I never meant to call TX or republicans successful or skillful . Thank you for the catch

People don't mind current policies as long as they themselves are removed from them.

Once they are asked to also participate in housing and helping migrants . . . not so happy.

It's interesting - I'll give it that.

Was supporting migrants just words? Because here are some opportunities to put all those Tweets into tangible actions.

Sometimes I suspect people just say things to seem noble and have no intention of lifting a finger. I feel it. My neighbors are the same way. Forget the homeless. If someone even mildly poor or working class appears on a Ring camera, they alert the rest of the neighborhood on NextDoor.

We're getting a new police substation down the street after massive pressure over the idea that the wrong sorts were gallivanting about. I mean, they're walking. Down our streets. The hell?

I'm sure my neighbors are the best people who care about the less fortunate more than most.

Just ask them.
