2. I'm sure Florida can make room for somebody else.

He is a fine congressman, I think he will do well to stay in that position. He was never a good governor. Somebody who has won statewide office as a Democrat would be better imho.

3. He is going to be the Dem nominee, so you must be talking about making room in an election

...because the primaries have not happened, right?

Also -based on recent events, it shouldn't surprise anybody if polls are 30 points off given that one candidate is loudly pro choice and the other candidate is a bit more quiet on the issue.

a seat of power. I’m not sure why you disliked Christ as a governor but it seems he’s the likely candidate.

Only his second as a Democrat. The only time he was ever elected to statewide office was as a Republican. Florida can do better, and I hope they do.

Lost the second time to incumbent Rick Scott. This will be his third run.
He was elected as Education Commissioner and as Attorney General. Both statewide elections.

In 1992, Crist was elected to a two-year term to the Florida Senate

In 1994, Crist was reelected to a four-year term in the Senate

Crist gained recognition in 1998 as the Republican challenger to incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Bob Graham. He lost to Graham by 26 percentage points.[22] In 2000, he was elected Education Commissioner of Florida, a position he held until it became an appointive office in 2003, as the result of a 1998 constitutional amendment.[17] Crist left his position after he was elected attorney general

In 2002, Crist was elected Florida Attorney General

Having won the 2006 election, Crist was inaugurated as governor of Florida on January 2, 2007

On May 12, 2009, Crist announced that he would not run for reelection as governor in 2010, making him the first Florida governor not to run for reelection since 1964.[85] Instead he ran for the US Senate.

On November 1, 2013, Crist filed to run for governor as a Democrat.[115] He won the Democratic nomination but was defeated in the general election by Republican incumbent Rick Scott.

Again, what did he do as governor that yo didn’t like?

I was on team Fried until she went all in on cryptocurrency, sued the Biden Administration for something stupid, and did nothing in her campaign but slam Crist.

She's gone into "Hillary was a Goldwater Girl" territory.

Oh, and BTW, she counts Matt Gaetz as a friend.

Not sure what "all in" on cryptocurrency means, so I can't make a judgement on that.

And the federal lawsuit on guns and marijuana preceded Biden, and has nothing to do with Biden personally.

With everything I'm seeing, she seems like the better candidate based on the idea she is staunchly pro choice in a race immediately following roe v Wade. I do hope she wins.

I live in FL so I've been following this closely.

As I said, I was on Team Fried at the beginning. She came out, rather oddly, for cryptocurrency, then backtracked because of negative response:

?s=20&t=b_YBvD_4uvtq-suhVFVJ1g

She announced her Biden Admin lawsuit in April:

https://www.wfla.com/news/politics/nikki-fried-sues-biden-administration-over-marijuana-and-guns/

She has a friendship with Gaetz: https://flipboard.com/topic/mattgaetz/florida-democrat-nikki-fried-and-matt-gaetz-are-pals-political-insiders-are-dis/f-0a5333a251%2Fbusinessinsider.com

She has done little but attack Crist for being a Republican at one point. I get her mailers. It's incessant. I get that it's a primary but she has been relentless and, IMO, silly - attacking Crist for once being a Republican (wasn't Elizabeth Warren).

I'm here on the ground, in my rural Red County. I also know that when he was governor, Crist vetoed a bill that would have hurt FL teachers, my husband among them: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-politics-florida/florida-governor-defies-party-vetoes-teacher-pay-bill-idUSTRE63E62C20100415

For this, he was basicallly drummed out of the party. Since then, his evolution to a Democrat has been solid.

He will get my vote, and my husband's. I think he will win the primary and polls show he has the best chance to beat DeathSantis.
