And, as we suspected, both answers are MAGAt culture.

If it *IS* I don't have a huge problem with what the guy said.

It's fairly accurate if that part about local offices and judges is factually correct.

Here is more about the process: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/08/us/politics/federal-search-warrant.html

EDIT: Here are some relevant excerpts since another poster said it was behind a paywall:

...

Neither the Justice Department nor the F.B.I. has the authority to act unilaterally. A federal judge or magistrate must approve of the request, and jurists often demand highly specific limitations on the search to protect a person’s Fourth Amendment rights against unlawful search and seizure before granting a warrant.

Law enforcement agencies must meet certain legal benchmarks, litigated over decades, before a judge can sign off.

First, they must prove “probable cause,” evidence that the search is likely to find evidence of illegality; if the warrant is found to lack such proof, the search is considered unlawful under a 2004 precedent.

It's sad that such an ignorant fool was even allowed to run in our primaries.

There's that Barr memo that requires Garland to sign off on investigations. So, no, it wasn't low level.

He has no idea how the Federal Government works.

It is beyond ignorant to think that the search warrant was not vetted by the Attorney General.

Yang is an idiot.

HIs cult reacted predictably, but moderate Republicans aren't in the cult and he needs them to be a political threat. This cost him any shot at a lot of moderates.

Doesn’t know that the judge must be from the jurisdiction that includes the place of search.
Doesn’t know that the DOJ and FBI generally don’t discuss or limit discussions during investigations publicly to avoid prejudicing their case
Doesn’t know that Garland is apolitical.

Clearly Yang has been living in his own world.

But he's also playing to his gullible base. I thought he was likable during the primaries but I remember there were polls back then that around half of his supporters would vote for Trump if he didn't win the Dem nomination.
This anti-establishment populist mindset that we've seen since 2016 from both sides is so stupid and boring.

Sure, it may have been a federal magistrate located in South Florida, but Yang chose the word “local” to downplay the seriousness and legitimacy of the warrant, making it sound like some Palm Beach traffic court judge signed it.

...this being a legal criminal pursuit takes it OUT of the political arena...

...Justice will take this wherever the law-breaking evidence leads them...

...if trump and the pukes don't want to be scrutinized for illegal behavior they should stop breaking the law...

...the FBI investigating and searching a former president's home is unprecedented...

...but a president trying to thwart the Constitution by overturning the results of a presidential election and then trying to stop the peaceful transition of presidential power is even MORE unprecedented...

...hey pukes, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime...
