Michael Steele, former chairman of the Republican National Committee, excoriated Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia for demanding that the FBI be defunded following its Monday raid of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.
After Greene tweeted "DEFUND THE FBI!" in an apparent reaction to the news on Monday night, Steele responded in a quote tweet that, "Trump failed to return classified docs requested by the National Archives. A federal judge issued a search warrant for probable cause of a crime. This is not some rando move by the FBI so you shitforbrains Republicans calling for 'defunding the FBI' for once try to be less stupid."
Greene, one of the most bombastic and controversial figures in Congress, has repeatedly condemned the Black Lives Matter movement for criticizing law enforcement and calling for police to be defunded.
Reacting to the former RNC chairman's tweet in a comment to Insider, Greene spokesperson Nick Dyer said, "Who the hell is Michael Steele?"

(10,252 posts)There's an ugly hardness written in her face. It's as tho she's standing on the train track bracing herself to stand against it's force. That is not heroism, it's stupidity. Just step off the train track. You don't need to defend the world against the gov boogey man. Satan is not a real being hiding behind the door. Jesus ain't coming back to pin a medal on your chest. And the invisible sky god is not going to wave a magic wand and grant your every wish.
Margie, you could just work to make the lives of your constituents a little better. Ya know, make healthcare more affordable, create some good jobs in your district, repair some roads, upgrade some schools, hire some more teachers, expand some public parks. If you worked on that sort of stuff, people would take you seriously and stop ridiculing you.
Work on stop hating people. Hatred and anger are poison. It's a bad habit, like drinking and smoking.
