Former Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday said the FBIs raid of former President Trumps Mar-a-Lago residence undermined public confidence in the justice system and called for a full accounting from Attorney General Merrick Garland.
I share the deep concern of millions of Americans over the unprecedented search of the personal residence of President Trump, Pence wrote on Twitter. No former President of the United States has ever been subject to a raid of their personal residence in American history.
After years where FBI agents were found to be acting on political motivation during our administration, the appearance of continued partisanship by the Justice Department must be addressed, he continued. Yesterdays action undermines public confidence in our system of justice and Attorney General Garland must give a full accounting to the American people as to why this action was taken and he must do so immediately.
Trump announced on Monday a large group of FBI agents executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago.

And now pretends to be angry about what he has wanted all along.
He gets back at Trump for the kidnap/murder threat and clears his path to the WH.

(73,559 posts)Although for entirely different reasons, I'd love to hear a full accounting, too. But the Attorney General rarely, if ever, discusses an on-going investigation publicly. I suppose that Mike and the rest of us will have to be patient, and wait for the legal charges.

(10,429 posts)Their spox needs to issue a statement saying that
1. This was a search, not a "raid".
2. The warrant was issued in full compliance with the law
3. TFG had been issued a subpoena for the documents in question, but failed to comply.
4. This was done for National Security purposes, not for any political purposes.

How the hell does this undermine confidence in the US justice system? It's the first step in restoring mine.

(1,604 posts)about what they will find in their raid. I don't think Pence was completely free of taint, no matter how much he tries to distance himself from the main scent.
I'll have to admit, if nothing else, the raids have basically confirmed that none of them are safe. Yesterday must have come as a complete shock to a great number of people who figured they were otherwise invulnerable.
