"National Security Council staff member Oliver North and his secretary, Fawn Hall, begin shredding documents that would have exposed their participation in a range of illegal activities regarding the sale of arms to Iran and the diversion of the proceeds to a rebel Nicaraguan group. On November 25, North was fired but Hall continued to sneak documents to him by stuffing them in her skirt and boots. The Iran-Contra scandal, as it came to be known, became an embarrassment and a sticky legal problem for the Reagan administration."

(200 posts)I lived in DC in an apartment building that housed Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard and also some navy guy that Fawn Hall was sleeping with.
During a three month period, the FBI searched my apartment twice. The first time was after the arrest of Pollard and Anne Henderson, Henderson told the FBI she hid microfilm in other apartments (there were about 20). A few months later, they're back because Fawn was hiding documents in her boyfriends place, although nothing of any importance.
So, I've survived 2 FBI searches, it was pretty awful, I have to say. But I never questioned or challenged their authority, it's the price we pay to live in a just society.
