Alvord made the initial comment Saturday morning in response to a tweet from Harris saying women should be able to make decisions about their own bodies without interference from the government.
The baby is not part of the body of a woman, Alvord responded in a tweet. The umbilical cord and placenta do not directly connect to the woman. The baby floats inside the woman. It is not about the womans body, its to kill then remove the babys body. It is done in greater proportion to black babies.
The placenta develops in and attaches to the walls of the uterus during pregnancy, providing oxygen and nutrients to fetuses. The umbilical cord connects the baby to the placenta. Babies do not float inside mothers.
The former South Jordan mayor appeared to stand by his comments Tuesday night, responding online to another Twitter user that the placenta does not, technically, belong to the mother, along with a link to an Insider.com story about the organ.
Alvords original tweet went ignored for days, but drew social media scrutiny after it was shared by Salt Lake Tribune columnist Robert Gehrke and Tribune reporter Bryan Schott.

A woman GROWS the baby in the womb. Makes the placenta, makes the umbilical cord, shares her blood, her oxygen, etc etc ad infinitum.

He should purge them from his earthen vessel post haste lest these alien entities consume him.

(24,312 posts)Everyone of us can think of something we don't know much about.
But it's totally another thing to start stating something as fact without checking first to see if it is, indeed, fact. It actually shows a high level of arrogance to think no one will question you.

(34,115 posts)when someone who does not know anything and does not care to even check it out or does not care and thinks no one else will question him is in a position to make you use your own body in a way you do not want to because of the errors he will not check? To confine you to being confined when you do not wish to be. Can you even imagine the screaming and howling if the tables were turned? I remember once when someone on another site I used to visit thought that maybe we should find a way to regulate what men did with their bodies. It would not have assigned them a life long commitment like having a baby does but it would restrict their bodies for a small time. You would have thought someone had lit their privates on fire.
Big fucking, stupid babies always trying to be the big men they think they are and still think we will let them get by with making stuff like this up.

(10,145 posts)This is basic stuff common to all placental mammals: embryos and fetuses are attached to the mothers' wombs via the placenta and are nourished by her circulatory system. Works the same way no matter if we're talking about mice, cats, dogs, horses, tigers, whales, or humans.
Of course he's making ignorant rules about women's reproductive health: if he actually knew and understood what he was talking about he wouldn't be a Republican.
(I wonder why he thinks he has a navel: is this where god poked him in the womb to see if he was done yet?)

I wish we could hammer home the argument that no other circumstance forces anyone to save the life of anyone else, even after death. Only pregnant women are forced into that, even when the life is only potential. Women have fewer rights than corpses.
