I do not have a single ounce, a single drop, of "When they go LOW, we go HIGH" left in me.
I am to the point where the only way we can communicate with Trump fans / Republicans is in a language they understand.
About 30 seconds after Trump was elected, his fans were dancing around like drunken satyrs, chanting "FUCK YOUR FEELINGS."
That's where I'm at. I'm sick of handling these fucks with kid gloves.
I'M WITH BETO.

(13,903 posts)I am sure Abbott will be greatly offended. I can't wait to hear about how that goes.

(10,252 posts)"that's the best way to handle someone, who laughs about children be slaughtered with war weapons. And by the way, those teachers, who were slaughtered were mothers. What do you think their families would say about their mothers getting slaughtered? What would you call someone who laughs about school gets getting slaughtered?"

(8,968 posts)Any human being with a shred of decency would be infinitely MORE offended by some demented clown loudly laughing while a tragic mass murder and necessary preventive measures were being discussed.

(8,968 posts)I could also care less. Abbott has probably seen the January 6th footage, replete with the seditionists choice of words used while committing their crimes. To the best of my knowledge, he has not expressed any reservations about the language used by his parry's "foot soldiers". All apologies and respect to Michele Obama, but playing nice is no longer a winning strategy.

(23,337 posts)Dems keep coming back to the table expecting the GQP to do the right thing but they refuse. Whats that saying? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome? This is where we are. The Q party wants to play? No. Time to hit back. Hard.

(18,837 posts)I'm not suggesting that we become something we are not, that we turn our back on our values.
What I AM saying is that, like it or not, at SOME point you have to acknowledge your opponent's motivation and address that DIRECTLY.
And that's what Beto did. He didn't say "Now, sir, I respect your viewpoint, but I beg to differ."
That doesn't work. He shut the guy down, and fast.
IF TRUMP RUNS, I would not count on him to debate, unless he gets all of the questions in advance, and Hannity is the moderator.
But if he does, the responses need to be SWIFT and DIRECT. I don't know if Joe Biden is going to run for a second term. But whether it is Joe or any other Democrat, they need to be swift and direct in the way they interact with him. Same holds true if it ends up being DeSantis.

(4,764 posts)but it did win him votes and it also will bring in lots of money. The spontaneous and wild reaction of the crowd was as important as the remark itself. Everyone I know is talking about it this morning. If Beto does pull off winning this thing it will be known as the "magic moment" when everything turned.

(517 posts)It's high time for Democrats to be unapologetic about their positions and be more aggressive against the cons. Stand firm for your beliefs and policies and hit hard at the Repugs and mercilessly attack their positions and values because they deplorable and seditionist. These are people you don't play nice with. This is for keeps.

That was then. This is now.
Thank you, Beto!
Every Democrat should be following Beto's example. The outright crazy mofos in the GOP have been conditioned to think that their tantrums are a valid political exercise. They are not.
It's time to slap the living snot out of the Republicans at every turn, every juncture, every opportunity.
We are dealing with treasonous, shitweasels that would sell out their country to get elected.
No more. You want a revolution, motherfuckers?
Here, hold my beer.
