Their own paranoia will keep them fractious and ineffective.

They may seem uncontrollable at present but there are more powerful forces at play.

9. The whole TEA Party was designed...

...to rally up the "base" of lunatics, ignorant, uneducated, racists, etc. And it worked, it got the GOP back into Congress. But the nut bags didn't settle down and wanted more and more extreme right wing legislation and wanted purity tests of their leaders (hence why a number of them started resigning, retiring or got primaried out).

Right Wing media kept them riled and forced current politicians to adopt it. Then Dump comes around and to their horror, writes right wing ideology in blood and stone. It's gotten so bad Reagan would probably go back to being a Democrat.

But therein lies the problem, over time they enabled and created this monster and would release it every now and again to gain political wins, but then this monster broke its leash and turned on them. Now they are trying to find a way to put it back on its leash without killing it. I'm not so sure they will succeed, at least not anytime soon.
