Somebody could still use trumps codes to develop
a pattern as to how they're generated. The fear could be (pure speculation) that there would be a way to hack and then ultimately block the codes at the time they were needed.

(115,836 posts)They were not necessarily the launch codes, more likely something having to do with development or technology. That doesnt make it better, of course.

(6,555 posts)It's about the disposition of our forces, possibly what we know about our adversaries forces - which tells them how to defeat our forces, as well as likely sources of said information, as well as the disposition of our allies forces.
In the WAPO article, it also said that signals intelligence info was taken. This worries me far more. THAT is actually far more damaging in the real world. Unlikely anyone will use nukes. VERY likely that knowing how we communicate to our troops and satellites, among other things, would be extremely useful in war. Think of, "hack your GPS so that the missiles you launch hit the targets we want them to".
