In messages posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, Not only will I not oppose the release of documents ... I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents. He continued to assail the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago as unAmerican, unwarranted and unnecessary.
Release the documents now! he wrote.
First, he is calling for the release of the "documents" not the warrant, he purposely uses the word unwarranted so people don't notice he is not saying to release the warrant.
Second, he will then decry what they do not release, namely the identity of any informant and the specific classified documents they were looking for, because, well...they are classified.
He is just waiting to find some reason to proclaim it a witch hunt.

including GOP minority leader.

(182,877 posts)I expected their line to be that Garland did what he said - grandstanding as the alpha male. Maybe they were just taken off guard with what Garland did.

(7,715 posts)I was accused of wearing "tinfoil" in another thread for even having the gumption to believe Trump might be referring to something else besides the warrant/inventory.

(10,243 posts)We're all missing the big picture here: Trump actually believes he won the 2020 election and is still the rightful "45th President of the United States." In his mind he's entitled to have top secret material in his possession.
Having classified nuclear weapons documents laying around Mar-a-Lago's basement and in his safe allowed him to pretend he was still the president, busy working in the White House Situation Room. It all makes perfect sense.

(10,072 posts)He no more believes than most democrats and a lot of republicans. It serves his purpose to say it, whether it be to raise money or to satisfy his ego that he can still rile up his base to do what he wants them to.
Straw Man
(6,625 posts)... and is ultimately irrelevant. Objective truth has no value to his malignantly narcissistic mind. I think that Trump's "beliefs" could more accurately described be as whatever he can convince other people to believe in order to get them to do what he wants.

(3,315 posts)His minions though will be now saying that the DOJ not releasing the "documents" means it's a hoax.
He really is good at changing the focus, but mostly just with his idiot fans who will go along with anything he says.

(15,224 posts)Hes a narcissist asshole. He will do or say whatever it takes for him to keep from taking any blame.
Normal, intelligent people see this. That leaves his base who buy whatever he says hook, line and sinker because they lack the thinking skills to actually figure out what he is doing. People who cannot or will not think and rationalize can be dangerous. They are easily led.
That part scares me.

In addition to that though, he wants to flip the conversation to 'they are hiding something because they won't release the affidavit'. Try to keep people from talking about what was revealed to instead talking about what was not.
