During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Cross Connection," former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner served notice to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) that he will regret ordering an investigation of Attorney General Merrick Garland should the Republican Party take control of the House in the 2022 midterm election.
Speaking with host Tiffany Cross, Kirschner didn't hold back, accusing the Republican leader of "political thuggery" in the service of former president Donald Trump.
After MSNBC played audio, McCarthy claimed that he intends to go after Garland in light of the search of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort which resulted in FBI agents reclaiming stolen documents that could lead to espionage charges, the veteran prosecutor said the California Republican would rue the day.
"Kevin McCarthy is engaged in political thuggery, that's all this is," Kirschner bluntly stated. "He threatened the attorney general by saying you better clear your calendar and preserve your documents."

(24,330 posts)I think blackmail material. Why else would you keep photos on a safe?

(101,368 posts)He just said McCarthy is full of shit. Even if he did say McCarthy will "regret" it (and that's not a quote, nor is it in the video), then as you say, its not "serving notice" if it comes from a pundit.

(58,785 posts)pushing "THE ALLEGATION IS THE CRIME" for 30 years now. Hillary's emails!
Tell a lie enough times, and critical percentages will believe it. Hillary's emails.
They're not about to stop because they always have a stock of false allegations ready to choose among, tweak and spread across the nation in virtual moments. "Hillary's emails" is a tool that has brought us to the edge of the abyss, but they still have to get us to pull our nation over.

(10,252 posts)First, I don't think GOP will retake the House. But if they do, investigating Garland will be a big waste of time. Besides they would be too busy trying to impeach Biden.

(2,491 posts)if the gop takes the house and tries to investigate everyone under teh sun all biden has to do is claim executive privledge.
plus if anyone ignores a subpoena all that the house could do is refer any so called contempt citations to garland at the justice department where im sure they will give it teh consideration it deserves
