2. Young voters in the US turned out in record numbers in 2020, powering Biden's presidential victory

Over half of all voters under the age of 30 voted in the 2020 elections, a record figure, and the demographic powered President-elect Joe Biden's victory over President Donald Trump, according to data from the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University.

The data revealed that 52% to 55% of registered voters under 30 cast ballots. In the 2016 presidential election between Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, roughly 42% to 44% of voters in this age group voted.

This year, the voters under 30 who cast ballots this year overwhelmingly supported Biden over Trump by a 60% to 36% margin, according to Edison Research. In 2016, many of these same voters supported Clinton over Trump by a narrower but still significant 55% to 36% margin.

Early data from Colorado, Georgia, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington state showed a huge increase in youth turnout, according to The Hill. Tom Bonier, chief executive officer at the Democratic data firm TargetSmart, told The Hill that "the increase in turnout among younger voters was greater than the increase overall."

I thought most of us old folks had learned not to vote for the party of hate.

3. Saw a panel where a 22-year-old said about Biden:

Her generation were bullish on Biden but he hasn't delivered.
He's older than their grandparents.
Politics is about optics and for her generation the Biden optics haven't been inspiring or exciting.
A career politician isn't an inspiring person.

That young Biden voters were bullish on Biden isn't true as far as I remember. They (and a lot of people) thought he was an old establishment centrist but could beat Trump. Then they were surprised at how progressive he was. Then they thought he was doing nothing and whined about broken promises. Doesn't make sense.

On Bill Maher? I heard the same thing, her age group wants a young leaser no matter what Biden has done lately.

Bill tried to ask her if what joe had done for climate and other things made any difference. It didn't seem to, they just can't handle his age.

5. Yes, just Googled around to find out who she is.

It's really strange, suddenly not caring about climate and other things, maybe the way that whatever Democrats do isn't good enough. As if just the right young non-politician leader would be able to do anything different in the same circumstances, or would be better without any experience or allies in Congress.

Ironic that she talked about how her generation is so often offended, but her reasons for not liking Biden were all feelings. Feelings about his age and not being inspired. And ignoring what the Biden administration has done. Doesn't your generation follow the facts? as Bill said.

6. Since a very strong majority of young voters cast their ballots for him

I don't think it's fair to say, "They just can't handle his age." Clearly, they could and they did "handle his age".

On the other hand, the majority of old people voted for Trump in 2016 and in 2020.

She was talking about since then. I think they had a lit of expectations that they wanted filled immediately and what Bill was saying was Joe did it now and thats what matters, his experience is what finally got the job done and she couldn't see that.
