(17,235 posts)I think of spies, lots of them get shot. Plus he deserves more than 10 years in prison.

(17,235 posts)Could that mean life in prison? Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual.
Thanks for the info.

(16,399 posts)I honestly do. At this point, he's shown us that he knows exactly what he's doing. He also has access to a lot more information than we do, as well as a better understanding of the law involved and of what it's going to take to properly nail Trumps hide to the wall.
I understand having a feeling of urgency about this, but I think we should trust AG Garland to know what to do and to choose the best time to do it.

(6,531 posts)When Schiff requested the threat assessment, it was mandatory. Now, they have to do a threat assessment based on the boxes and boxes of classified documents they retrieved.
Now, I read that the threat assessment is mandatory. So, why didn't they do that on the first 15 boxes? Could it be that there were no classified documents in the boxes that tRump voluntarily returned? I don't think they ever told us anything more about the first 15 boxes. I could be wrong.
I think tRump is playing fast and loose with the documents. His attitude is going to bite him in the butt.

(5,842 posts)None of the chatter about declassification matters.
What we know is that HE WAS ILLEGALLY IN POSSESSION OF CLASSIFIED MATERIAL, and that is a felony. PLUS, he lied when he said it was all returned. Add another charge to the pile.
Add additional charges later, after the threat assessment. But indict him NOW on what we do know, and which is clear to everyone: he was illegally in possession of classified material.

(2,451 posts)simply having government documents that threaten national defense and not returning them when asked is a felony. classification level doesnt matter

(85 posts)He's not leaving the country. Any travel outside the United States leaves him more exposed to the Iranian fatwa and he knows that.
And 2 more points. First, once arrested he would take the attorney's advice and not say anything to the (?)press. The more he talks the more he confesses.
2nd, How can he keep pleading the 5th in all the upcoming lawsuits against him? The more he's forced to do that, the more bad news he projects about himself. Doesn't matter to his hard core supporters but the more doubt about him you get out there the better to kinda chip away the support. The same strategy used by producers of the radio show"Superman" in the 1950's to combat the KKK.

Putin wouldn't allow Iran to harm Trump.
Trump is a danger to our national security, he needs to be indicted sooner rather than later. How many years do you think it would take to actually put Trump on trial? Indict him, before the election.

The presidency will survive his incarceration.

(5,842 posts)I posted the same sort of thread with a link to DOJ contact info (great minds think alike).
I sent the DOJ a message on their contact form demanding they arrest him now. Please send your messages too. Let's inundate them with demands for justice.

(146,308 posts)Before he can be arrested, he has to be charged with a crime. Before he can be charged with a crime, a federal grand jury has to indict him. Such grand juries are already empaneled and are hearing evidence.
When he is indicted, as I'm sure he will be, an arrest warrant will be issued. He will be arrested, in one way or another, and will appear in court to answer those charged. Then, not doubt whatsoever, he will be released on bond until a trial date is set. He will not be immediately jailed or imprisoned, though, and a trial would be months away, if not longer.
That's how it works. Wishing will not change that. There is no way he can be arrested, just based on our certainty that he should be.
It just doesn't work that way.
