The shooting Friday in Richland Hills happened as two officers were investigating reports of gunshots along a city street. They found a man carrying a rifle about two blocks away, according to Richland Hills Officer Sheena McEachran.
The suspect raised and pointed what has been identified as a semi-automatic rifle at the officers, McEachran said. Officers fired at the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
It wasnt yet known whether the man shot at the officers or how many times he was shot, McEachran said Saturday, saying that is part of the ongoing investigation.

Another failed MAGAt attack or just another loon with a rifle that decided to go out with a bang?
We'll know soon enough.

(3,816 posts)These moron MAGAts with their guns will take advantage of all of the newly loosened carry laws to make life hell for the rest of us law abiding citizens, all just to honor their shitbucket "dear leader."

(4,441 posts)What could possibly go wrong?
MarineCombatEngineer
(12,378 posts)the cops were responding to a call of shots fired when they found him and there is no miscommunicating when someone points a semi auto rifle at you, the intention is pretty clear.
Could be a case of suicide by cop or a MAGAt that decided to try to strike a blow for the "revolution" or whatever their diseased mind comes up with.

(4,441 posts)But maybe shots fired call was a block away...cops arrive, see rifle, make assumptions, shoot first, ask questions later. Seems like a plausible scenario in todays environment of open carry and trigger happy/constantly fearing LEO. Disaster waiting to happen.

(11,308 posts)a scenario where this man is a 'victim' (and the cops villains) - than the much more plausible - danger to the community.
stopdiggin
(11,308 posts)is an invitation (if not a demand) that your opponent take defensive action. In this case - the man had already demonstrated danger to the public and erratic intent by previously firing the weapon. If the cops don't shoot you - it's only because you got very, very lucky - and they showed enormous, perhaps dangerous to themselves and others - restraint on this particular day.
Stop playing with guns!

(82,849 posts)And he was investigating the shots fired in his neighborhood when he was confronted by some other guys with guns and he couldn't tell right away whether they were good guys or bad guys?
It's a sad and confusing situation in any event, but I'm pretty sure the best solution is moar guns.
