Former President Donald Trump attempted to convey a cryptic message to Attorney General Merrick Garland following the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, a report says.

According to The New York Times, Trump wanted Garland to know that he had been speaking with people around the country and that they were enraged by the FBI search.

"The country is on fire. What can I do to reduce the heat?" was the message Trump wanted to be conveyed to Garland, a person familiar with the exchange told the paper.

Several people took to social media to suggest that Trump's message to Garland could be interpreted as a veiled threat.

The only way to put out the fire is to resoundingly beat him and his supporters again. I think this November sets up a great chance to do that again.

I think if Trump wants to run again, other 2024 hopefuls will step aside and let him do it, because that may be the only chance to keep congressional numbers close. If Trump is denied a 2024 chance to run, he will probably tell his followers to stay home and Democrats could gain historically high numbers.

Trump has demonstrated what he stands for with a SC that overturned Roe and threatens to upend many other long-term recognized rights. Couple that with his own disregard for the law, we have a clear picture of what another Trump presidential term would look like.
