But I'm likewise pleased to have a boring and competent President again!

(21,148 posts)He is good man who cares about the American people and gets stuff done. No bs, no egotistical behavior or temper tantrums.
I am proud he is our president.

(1,895 posts)Boring, in this case, is a good thing. Let a boring adult who gets stuff done and governs by substance, not chaos, be what this country needs.

(1,822 posts)Trump made it a daily show, always having to be at the center of the fight. I think the country was just exhausted of it all.

(1,603 posts)Republicans over all are much more extroverted than Democrats. Extroverts see their leaders as superheroes, stopping the bad guys just before the bomb blows up, battling crisis at every turn. To them, that's what a good leader looks like, and Republican leaders pander to that (remember "Mission Accomplished"?
Democratic leaders are far more likely to want to defuse situations before they reach the crisis standpoint, and generally succeed. They get stuff done but it's all behind the scenes. Democrats in general understand this - it means that they can concentrate on their lives, not the crisis du jure - but Republicans see it as a lack of leadership, or worse, that the real crises come only when the Republicans are in power and Democrats always get the boring years. This is true, but its true precisely because Democrats are better at governing, something no Republican wants to admit.

(14,853 posts)... who behave that way, which indeed seems to be the majority of Republicans nowadays.
I can even spot them at workplaces sometimes. They're the people who idolize a particular boss, even to the point of trying to please that person instead of doing the work that helps the company as a whole. (Like brown-nosers who could instead be doing something productive while on the clock.)
A President is serving an extremely important role in this country, with big responsibilities, but it's still a role and he/she shouldn't be worshipped like a God for doing it.
Right-wing authoritarians probably loved the Don LaFontaine voiced movie trailers in the past, often focused on "one man" saving the world or whatever.

(2,738 posts)will ignore all the bot activity (and that of ambitious young Dems restless for "their" turn) and take a real look at the amazing president we have! They need to stop agitating for a replacement. And NO ONE should consider primarying Biden if he chooses to run. Studies show that undermines him and makes an incumbent candidate less likely to win.
Humility and servant leadership and getting things done. Normalcy but better normalcy than most presidents delivered. So much to celebrate!

(1,349 posts)And it's exactly as it should be. Governing is wonky, boring. Why the f*ck people want a sideshow from the gov't is beyond me.

(111,261 posts)and I told them that he was wily as hell, a workaholic who knew how everything (and everyone) worked, would hit the ground running, and get things done. I said they'd be bored and frustrated for the first year, after which things would start to happen.
Anything that makes that old tobacco juice dribbling tortoise wonder what the hell hit him is a damned good thing, and he's looking stunned these days.

We can rely on Joe, and so can the rest of the world. I think most Western leaders breathed a sigh of relief to see Joe sworn in. I certainly did.

(1,322 posts)Hes not boring, he just understands very well how our political process operates and works quietly to get things done. And is succeeding very well at it.
I think what folks are missing is the charisma of Obama. BHO was a once in a lifetime politician, and if were waiting for another like him to come along, well have a long wait.
Biden is making a case for being one of our best Presidents ever, IMHO.
