Im not an american. So when i tuned into the election coverage, which results will come in first and at what time?

(46,436 posts)Alaska and Hawaii. We always know the winner before the polls close, so presidential elections are kind of a bust for us. The state elections are really contentious this year, though, so I imagine there will be a pretty good turnout.

Absentee votes will be announced first
Be very cautious with those figures - they do not always reflect election day figures.
Large counties will be updated every 15 minutes; mid-size counties every half hour, and small counties every hour.
If it's too close to call, you'll have a long wait - provisional ballots will not be counted for 2 weeks. Sorry about that.
