He is only means to a end for most of them. And he has done such a great job with Fox about how facts aren't facts that when I mention to any republicans about him they say the media lies about him all the time. Very exasperating!

Let's not get all jingoistic like Republicans do and pretend soldiers, and veterans, aren't sometimes complete scum

That Antifa?
I still dont know what an Antifa is. After all this time and observation and attempted study.
Maybe its some term for a glorified ant infestation. They do invade in crowd formation.

(53,410 posts)A group that was against Trump. They included themselves in early anti Trump marches and were soon being blamed for any violence that happened. Especially by Trump and especially if any of his followers were involved.

(111,261 posts)who see every interaction around them as following a chain of command and if it doesn't, it needs to. Authoritarian figures appeal to people like that and you do find people like that in the military. People who serve with or under them generally hate their guts, but they're out there.

(10,125 posts)if they know all the true facts about an issue
will be on the side of right (correct if you will) the vast majority of the time.
Maybe I'm naïve.
I think a big problem is there are a lot of Americans who are not getting "all the true facts about an issue"
That in part, comes down to the media and who controls it (90+% of US media is controlled by six corporations)
In part, there is an increasing tolerance for lying among the leaders
In part, it is a failure of the education system
In part, it has been affected by social media becoming an unreliable source that people accept
There are others who could express it better or add other factors.
I still believe in the basic goodness within most Americans.
But to see that, you have to tell them the truth and give them all the facts.
For a long time, that has not been happening like it used to.

(502 posts)So many of my veteran friends have fallen for his bullshit. We all know how to handle top secret documents. I don't think they can spin their way out the latest. They know better. They fell for propaganda. I learned about propaganda in the military. They all know about Hanoi Jane. The military service needs a complete overhaul. I can understand the lower ranks falling for bullshit, but not the officers.

(25,247 posts)Note - I didn't say 'every' veteran.
I said 'any' veteran.
What I mean by that is 'any person/veteran' that served our country.
A person that sacrificed their time - and potentially their life - for the U.S. - would support a person like Tr**p. Tr**p has no respect for them (veterans) and the sacrifice they made.
Why would any of them want to support such a person?
Now I know - that there are going to be people that will support Tr**p. That is their prerogative. I just don't understand their thinking.
I have relatives that lost their life (some limbs) in WWII fighting for our country. I had friends and classmates that were killed in VietNam - fighting for our country.
I know that some of those that lost their lives/limbs fought with - fellow soldiers - that now support Tr**p.
Again - I just don't understand their thinking.
What is it about that man (Tr**p) - that - they can believe all he says and overlook all of his criminal and treasonous acts? Why?

(2,815 posts)Senator Prescot Bush, before office, funded Hitler with 50 Million Reich Marks to get the Nazi Party and their Brown Shirts funded. After the War and especially during the Eisenhower administration they brought a whole cohort of Nazi sympathizers, German Government functionaries and the like. I had a teacher in High School, who had come to america with his family straight into a Senate Page role at the age of 16. His Dad had been Admiral of the flag ship of the German Navy during WW2. There were many of them during the 1950s to rebuild the GOP and widen the Military Industrial Complex. Bush also laundered the ownership of the former IG Farbin, which became Von Theissen in combination with Krupps brothers and received a substantial kickback in 1952 oe 53, when the Assets exited Allied Occupation Custody. It's that generation's grandkids now, I have no idea how we clean up the emergent fascist group lurking within our nation.
