I just hope there is as much uproar over the teacher shortage and the incompetent

manner that Republican governors are filling the void, as there was with the baby formula shortage. It's the only way to make people realize just how evil and insensitive these bastards are.

Will not be concerned about who is teaching them as long as they don’t say gay, alienate trans kids and ban books that have historical facts.

Friend, who really liked her job, retired at 60 - too much disrespect from the students. Middleschool level no less.

I almost quit last week over one of my classes that was just crazy. A colleague who had many of the same students last year told me that at least she had other students that just by their presence, helped regulate the misbehaving students. Those other students opted for another course so I have all the rough one, together, in one freaking class.

It got better this week - parent emails helped but experience tells me that will wear off.

Maybe I'll make it to Christmas.

But I stood still and said a silent prayer to calm myself and I was able to move on. But that day I wondered if I might quit substitute teaching. It seems after returning to school after the pandemic some kids got even worst. You always got an out of control one that I refuse to give them much negative energy and their fellow students get on their case!

Luckily, I know how to get children’s attention and get control over them. I have learned techniques as a substitute and sometimes just being quiet and not engaging they pick up quickly that they are not going get away with them not paying attention. The Passive aggressive silent treatment sometimes works wonders. But I will never do middle school only K-5 substituting and the couple of times I did high school I had trouble with their cell phone usage.
