Sam Donaldson Tells Trump’s Supporters That They Are Un-American


Legendary correspondent Sam Donaldson said that the real un-Americans in the United States are those who knowingly support Trump.

Donaldson told CNN’s Jim Acosta:

I’ve admired conservatives who believe because they think the government is encroaching too much. But the ones who now are supporting Donald John Trump and Trump-ism when they know better if they’re ignorant in the dictionary definition of the sense I feel sorry for them. But those people who know better not only are they cowards, but they’re the ones who are un-American.

Donald Trump has said we in the press are un-American. All Democrats are un-American and the enemies of the state. We’re the enemies of the state. Now they’re calling the FBI our principal national law enforcement agency which keeps us all safe and has for decades and decades un-American. How dare they? How dare they? Who are these people?

Donaldson was right. Real conservatives have long ago bolted the Republican Party. What is left are the people who have warped conservatism to justify big government and big government spending.

Those that are left behind in the husk of what used to be Lincoln’s party have become opposed to American values.

Trump and supporters label anyone who opposes them as un-American when the true un-Americans are those Republicans who are knowingly enabling Trump and his fascist tendencies to destroy democracy.

22. I have one who voted for Obama the first time

but not the second. He voted for Trump in 2016 but didn't vote at all in 2020. He grew up in a very conservative family and old habits die hard.

He pulled the bothsiderism a couple of days ago (there are bad politicians on both sides) and I called him on it. I told him:

"Bothsiderism is for pussies. Name the "bad" Democrats or STFU."

He was taken aback, but couldn't come up with a name of a "bad" Democrat. He's also pro-choice and believes in climate change. He admits that GWB "wasn't the smartest" and that if Gore had been elected, 9/11 probably wouldn't have happened, and thus no wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.

But the best I can hope for is for him to say he's an "Independent".

An open mind
Intellectual integrity
It was so simple, it only took 10 long years for most of the country to get it.

Those Qualities were not the tools one used to carve ones way on the path to career success. That career success thing wedged right in to Reaganism and the current rotting of America due to Republicanism.

Sam needs to tell the world how so many were/are led astray by punditation and moral compromise. He, like so many others, was easy on the eyes and well spoken. A model for the talking head class that reigns today at every half asset bothsiderist "news" outlet. Rather and Cronkite are a couple of examples of those who tried to correct the record.

I'm probably too hard on old Sam but I remember his many pastel reports from the Whitehouse lawn leaving more questions than he ever answered. Those were the days when Ken Starr ran rough over democracy and justice and nobody said a damn thing about it.
