Merrick Garland is like a pit viper

"“People are like, well, but let’s wait and see a little bit. And this is like the top of the first inning. I mean, remember Merrick Garland is like a pit viper. He prosecuted the Oklahoma City bomber case, the Unabomber case, the Olympic bomber case. And I think these guys are really methodical,” Carville says on this episode of The New Abnormal politics podcast."

In those cases. I hope he’s as effective in this/these cases. I have a friend who’s in the FBI under Wray, and they appreciate Garland and how methodical he is.

while AG Garland has a whole back 40 full of cattle (evidence).

Benedict Donald constantly underestimates those he deems his enemies, to his peril.

In Garland's other (in)famous cases, no one was cheering for the perpetrators; at most, there was the "innocent until proven guilty" talk. But with maybe 30% of Americans believing Trump can do no wrong and no commitment whatsoever to reasonable government if Republicans take even one chamber of Congress, there is a timing element Garland may never previously have dealt with. It may be practically impossible for him to produce a conviction and also take visible steps that would reassure those like me with a finely-developed sense of skepticism about federal-level Republican politicians receiving punishment for their crimes.

a Trump trial and conviction would take at least 3 years.

Donald Trump had top secret documents, in an unlocked bomb shelter, for 19 months and yet it took Garland weeks to decide whether to issue a search warrant. He has to be the most cautious man in the world.

have a majority, the first thing they would do is close down the Jan6 hearings. I assume that would apply to anything they didn't like.

where a judge is expected to weigh evidence carefully and methodically, then issue a detailed decision.

This is great for a judge, but not as much for a prosecutor. Of course, you still want to weigh and consider all the evidence, but the job at DoJ is to catch and prosecute, not decide if the targets of investigations are guilty or innocent. A point was made on MSNBC yesterday that Garland might be more trusting of and delegating more to his subordinates now whereas before he could only rely on himself, the statutes and precedent.

My grandfather served a couple of terms as a prosecutor after he retired from the US Marsha' service. He was very much the same type of man as Garland. He never wanted to take anything to court unless he had everything in place first. No surprises with him. My mother said sometimes people got impatient waiting for him but he seldom lost a case.

this is the first concrete proof that Merrick Garland is investigating Trump.

Investigations don't always lead to indictments, so says Alvin Bragg.

Letitia James case has gotten stronger with Trump citing the 5th and Weisselberg pleading guilty. At least take his money.
