George Takei: I want to address the younger folks here.

Joe Biden and the Democrats did something amazing for the planet, despite an evenly divided senate where any one senator could hold the whole deal hostage (and some did for many months). In the bill he is signing today is the largest

investment in green technologies in our recorded history. The climate activists and policy folks who pressed for it agree that it gives us a chance to meet our goal of reducing fossil fuels by some 40 percent below 2005 levels by the year 2030. That could keep our planet from warming so dangerously that the damage would be unstoppable. It gives Planet Earth and its inhabitants a real chance.

Every single Republican in Congress voted against this bill. Every single one. That’s how divided our country is, and that’s why this upcoming election matters so much. When it came to the most pressing need of our times, Joe Biden and the Democrats delivered on their promise on the climate. Now we need young folks to help deliver a Democratic majority in both chambers of Congress so that more work can continue, on gun control, on voting rights, and especially on protecting bodily autonomy and the fundamental right to abortion that the Republicans want to strip away.

I am 85 years old. I probably won’t live to see whether we can turn the corner on global warming and ensure a cooler, greener, livable planet for you and for future generations. But I can say this: What happened in Congress, under Democratic leadership, makes that at least possible. Now it will be up to others to see that work through.

Please vote this November. Thanks. —G

There is such a stark difference that I cannot see how anyone still rolls out the old "no difference" canard these days...

Please someone get Mr Sulu to read it on film and blanket all young people's media outlets.

It wouldn't hurt to blanket the seniors amongst us with the same message.

Nor would it hurt to blanket women's media outlets.
