I've been thinking about the 11 sets of Top Secret documents the FBI recovered. The Wa.Post claims some may be nuclear related.
These are documents that Trump cannot unilaterally declassify.
If there is evidence that Trump tried to sell any of these, it's Game Over. Even if there is no indication Trump tried to sell these he is in deep trouble.
Merrick Garland will have no issues indicting Trump if these 11 sets of documents are documents that scare the shit out of everyone.
I post this because there are indications that Trump is preparing to throw Mark Meadows under the bus for these documents. You see the office secretary who was in charge of returning classified documents from the Oval Office to the National Archives left. Mark Meadows, supposedly volunteered to do her job. Trump is going to say that Meadows screwed up, he neglected to return the documents and so they got mistakenly packed up.
I hope this is what happens, I hope this is Trump's story, because it has more holes in it than a piece of Swiss cheese.
Just a positive thought.

(15,616 posts)I think we may see an indictment for espionage before any indictments for the J6 coup attempt, as there are more layers, players, and complexities in the J6 crimes compared to the MAL documents crimes.
DOJ would still need to present the evidence from MAL before a Grand Jury, so at least that step is yet to be completed AFAIK

(21,348 posts)I think the theft of these documents will bring Trump down.
Also, I failed to mention, that Trump people want the affidavit unsealed, that is an unprecedented request, they want to know what DOJ has, and who the informants are. The judge better not unseal this, I mean, someone could fall down a set of steps.

(21,348 posts)I used to write letters to the editor to my local red neck newspaper. The editor and I got into it a lot. He called me his commie, pinko, buddy. I quit writing letters when they started editing them and refusing to post them.

(12,385 posts)it's game over and Meadows will have no compunction on telling what he knows to the Feds and the J6 Committee, after all, at that point, what's he got to lose, if he's going down, might as well put the final nail in Benedict Donald's coffin.
That is my hope.

(2,520 posts)From my understanding you cannot enter the "room" where there are nuclear secrets with any electronic devices and you can not bring in any pens and paper. No one is allowed to carry anything out. I believe I learned that here on DU and it was enough to convince me that until Merrick Garland tells me otherwise and that includes the Washington post I do not believe it is going to be nuclear secrets

(21,348 posts)can mean different things.
John Bolton was on MSNBC tonight and he stated that Trump never believed in following the rules related to confidential documents.
It would not shock me if Trump had documents from those SCIFs at Mar-el-Loco, if he does, he is toast.

(2,520 posts)I wish I could find the thread. If I understood it correctly the rules are such you can't take anything in the room nor can you leave with anything.
Do you really this this guy could steal secrets with those rules?
Didn't Gaetz invade a meeting in one with a bunch of his buddies? Nothing happened to him for that stunt. Plus, we know that Trump had to have had help getting those docs. There are other rats we are not yet aware of who helped him. What's it take for that?

(22,129 posts)took tRUMP's classification (as president) in order to even get the documents. So at least both of them, if not more are complicit.
What a mess.

(7,134 posts)We only know a portion of what the FBI knows, and what we do know is bad enough. The charges, when they come, won't be limited to some relatively innocuous Presidential Records Act offenses. Trump can try to offload the blame all he wants, but the fact is that stolen government documents, many at TS/SCI level, were transported to and stored at his property under laughable security. Some were begrudgingly returned but then his lawyers lied to the government about the continued presence at Mar-A-Lago of even more files. If some ordinary defense or intelligence agency employee had done this he or she would be thrown in jail to await trial with no hope of acquittal or clemency.
And the idiot made things worse for himself by releasing the text of the search warrant without blacking out the names of the agents involved in the raid, all but encouraging his mentally defective supporters to go out and threaten them. I wouldn't be surprised if DOJ gleefully threw the proverbial book at him.

(6,531 posts)I want every last charge indicted. I want nothing left off, no matter how tedious it is. Especially since he has all but admitted his guilt. We should be in the plea bargain stage already. One of the prods should be execution.
We can't exile him or deport him. He should run away now, because he is going to jail. Stick him in a Super Max, not a minimum security where his followers can wave at him through the fence.
