Packing the Supreme Court with declared anti-choice justices will be their Waterloo. Theyll look back on that as their biggest mistake - well, some of em will. Maybe.

(37,070 posts)The Kansas Supreme Court ruled that women in the state had a right to an abortion. The zealots then spent millions of dollars trying to codify religious beliefs into the state constitution and put it to a vote of the people of Kansas to ban abortion in a primary election. And you know the glorious rest of the story. But zealots never stop. They too are now targeting members of the state Supreme Court this election.
Why does the Catholic Church still have a tax exempt status? Almost a rhetorical question. Almost.

(81,320 posts)Tap into that huge and lucrative tax base!
Churches use our roads and bridges, our power infrastructure, and every other taxpayer-supported benefit. Why they are not helping to support our system is really, frankly, a sin.
Especially with all the money they take in, all the fundraising they do. Heck, when I was in Catholic school, almost all they did (after teaching) was fundraising. Even when I was a kid, and not very aware yet, I wondered what they were doing with all that money, and why they kept hitting us up for more.
And the nuns got a free new car every year from a local dealership whose owners daughter was in my class - got horrible grades, but was never held back.
We saw stuff like that all the time.
And they never have to pay taxes like the rest of us do.

(37,070 posts)The archbishop of Kansas said we will get around to considering expanding Medicaid after we abolish abortion in Kansas. The archbishop is covertly juggling his share of sex abuse cases against some of his priests. And of course hes good buddies with gop crime family in the state capitol.
Also two years ago the local Catholic Church spent $600,000 for a new rectory, complete with a two car garage, elevated garden and a sprinkler system
Gosh why am I so skeptical about the prolife bs?
It was so sweet the night they lost at their plan to control womens lives and bodies. And some of them continue to say their were some voting irregularities providing zero proof. They only lost by 165 thousand votes in a sparsely populated red state.
