I suspect they could release quite a bit.
They could release why they made the case to the judge.
They could release info about how the documents were moved to Mar-a-Lago?
They could release the information about the negotiations between the NARA and Trump to retrieve the information and how long it went on?
They could release the information about how the DOJ retrieved 15 boxes and were told there was no more classified information on the grounds. They could show how they were lied to and why the FBI had no choice but to go in and seize the documents. They could show how the former president did not act in good faith.
There is a lot of information they could make public without naming names or exposing any techniques about how they gathered their information.
In my opinion, it is going to be devastating for the former president.

(115,735 posts)How could they explain why they made the case without revealing the underlying facts? Could they release info about how the documents were moved without revealing who moved them? How can they disclose information underlying discussions or other events without revealing who participated? Just redacting names would still leave enough information that it would be easy to figure out exactly who was involved. All of this information constituted the FBI's "sources and methods," and I don't think we will see very much of it.

(111,103 posts)If the DOJ disagrees, I suppose they can appeal to another court? Which may be what happens?

(115,735 posts)and its reasons for wanting them. If the judge agrees, the affidavit as redacted will be released unless the moving parties, which are media representatives and not TFG, object. Either party can appeal.

(10,884 posts)No matter what they release, the repukes will whine. So who cares? Quickly, they will move on to the next perceived "injustice". Everything that has been exposed about the Cantaloupe Cretin would have been devastating to any other former president. This puke is so completely corrupt that it just doesn't matter any more. His believers will follow him into his prison cell, singing his praises the whole time.

(8,387 posts)The DoJ is likely operating on the assumption that they won't be able to redact a lot for a long time, and must move forward expeditiously with anything else that might be impacted by the disclosure.
There's enough time for them to adjust gears before anything is going to come out.

(503 posts)Its to the advantage of the DOJ to make it appear to be as bad as possible. The various spins are predictable.
