Teachers quitting because of "culture wars"

Just watched a segment on MSNBC about teachers that quit because of these bigoted rules. It’s such a loss for these students, academically and for their emotional growth.

Many of us have that one teacher that helped to mold us in our early years. Quite often, it wasn’t just their lesson plans that endeared them to us. I can think of several. From my 3rd grade teacher Mrs Lawrence who always called on me to read in front of the class, even though I hated it.
She knew doing it over and over would help build my confidence.
The one that stands out the most for me, was my senior year home room teacher. Mr. Wade, he believed that I could be whatever I wanted to be, despite being 17 and pregnant. He was determined to make sure that pregnancy did not derail my education. I ended up finishing high school earlier than my senior class.

When it was time for the graduation ceremony, I had already completed my first semester of college. I had no interest in going back to walk in the ceremony. I completed all credits for my high school diploma in November, had a baby in December and started college in January.

Even before I was pregnant, he was always supportive and encouraging. I was the first to attend college in my family. One day, he asked me what I wanted to do after high school, I said “ a paralegal “, without hesitation, he asked “why not a lawyer?”.
I had never thought about that. You can’t dream, or become what you don’t see. That moment has never left me, it was the first time that I actually started to have confidence in myself. I never became a lawyer, found my passion in mental health.

From an unsure 17 yr old pregnant kid to graduate degree professional. I am not sure that 17 yr old kid gets to this point without teachers that gave her wings.

As a parent myself, I was grateful for my son’s PE teacher who coached the track team. My son used to have horrible anxiety before races. To the point of throwing up. The encouragement from his PE teacher/coach has paid dividends, far more than on the track.

We ask far too much of our teachers, however they touch and influence our lives in numerous ways. Driving them out of the profession will ultimately hurt children.
One teacher on the segment is now training to be a pilot. He and others will be ok. They will move on to other careers. It’s a big loss for the children.

I get the hatred and bigotry. It’s how much these people will wreck every thing to one up or own the libs that leaves me bewildered.

A few nights ago, On Stephanie Ruhle’s show, they talked about a library that was “defunded” because it had 13 books with gay characters. These people are willing to deprive a whole community of their library because of 13 books. Never mind that libraries are not just for books anymore. People without internet access use it, whether for job searches or home work. I’ve seen certain classes given at libraries.
They are so wrapped up in their need to beat the woke and own the libs, they don’t care if “their own” are hurt in the process.

Nor about happy slaves in the South. I'd have to find somewhere else to teach or something else to do for a living.

She says the more you try to calmly reason with them, the madder they would get.

She said they don't even seem to know themselves what they are mad about. They are just angry.

Their hatred for their fellow Americans can't be hidden behind a term like "culture wars." We need to call out their hatred, bigotry, racism, and general intolerance for their fellow Americans

Then described it as bigoted in my discussion. I agree with you 100%. Neither will I use the term white nationalist.
