There were so many disturbing things happening during the trump presidency. This was definitely in my top 10. I expect them to try this out in some form. I believe Kavanaugh’s stance on this, as much as I believe he accepted Roe as settled.

Like other Trump nominees beginning with recently confirmed district court Judge Wendy Vitter in April 2018, federal district court picks Ada Brown and Steven Grimberg recently refused to say whether Brown was correctly decided.
About 20 pending district and appeals court nominees have refused to opine on the merits of Brown, according to The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, a progressive organization that is opposing the nominees

Texas governor announces intent to bar undocumented immigrant children from attending public schools
Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared May 4 that he would challenge a 1982 Supreme Court ruling that prohibits states from discriminating against public school students on the basis of immigration status.
As a guest on the Joe Pags Show, Abbott took aim at the Supreme Court’s1982 Plyler v. Doe decision, which requires states to permit children of undocumented immigrants to attend public schools on the same basis as the children of citizens.

A May 4 report in the Austin American-Statesman mentioned two possible legal avenues for a challenge. “One option would be for the Legislature to pass a bill similar to the statute that was overturned in 1982. Civil rights groups would likely respond with legal challenges that could return the issue to the Supreme Court.”
Or Abbott could direct Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to file a lawsuit “arguing that the federal requirement to fund the public education of all children is unconstitutional.”

This is how it starts. …… They will continue to push boundaries. If anyone thinks it would be impossible to see a return of segregation, I think you would be fooling yourself.
Place LGBTQ kids in classes with only LGBTQ kids because having them in the classroom violates some kid’s religious right. Or bring prayer back to school. Since Muslim kids can’t join the prayer, put them in a class by themselves.
Earlier this week, I heard someone say, Desantis fucking with education was preceded by bipartisan agreement on changing the curriculum to encourage civics education. Yeah we got rolled on that. We have to see all the ways that they are trying to tear everything down.
