A lot of media is responsible for reporting apparent skewed poll numbers.

(34 posts)A 2 point lead is not safe for any party to be bragging about. We will see after labour day where the polls are at.

(7,871 posts)In the states that actually are having Senate elections this year, we are doing very well in the polls and are favored to maintain control and even increase our current seat count.

(4,845 posts)People might feel like voting for one party or the other, but at the end of the day, the candidate quality matters too.
Still though, I am confident that the MSM will make some bad news for democrats to make it more of a horse-race for rating again.

(4,589 posts)Voters in the states with Senate elections will decide the outcome (barring election rat-fucking by republican fascists).

(2,807 posts)Quite honestly, it's a meaningless poll. Yes, it is a SMDH deal. But wanting and wishing a particular party will control the Senate ain't worth damn thing.

(295 posts)They will ALWAYS vote their pocketbook. Oil companies don't want Biden re-elected because made it clear the rich need to pay more. So they colluded to ruin the economy. And they have done that. And of course they blamed it on everything except corporate greed.
Never forget, this is a country with millions and millions of stupid, uneducated people that believe everything they hear in the news media.

(28,873 posts)I know that number is much lower.
It may be true in red states though.

(3,874 posts)Most polls have shown a steadily increasing Democratic lead, upwards of 6-8% in most polls, in the generic ballot. i didn't see this report, so I don't know where they got it, but MSNBC has a tendency to find these outliers and use them to ring alarm bells, kind of like a lead-in, to keep people tuned in, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
I think the poll they're citing is the NBC-Hart Media poll, which is a B+ rated poll with 1,000 registered voters. It's right next to a YouGov, B+ 1,300 Registered voter poll showing Democrats with a 45-39 lead, and a Morning Consult poll that's two days earlier, with a 46-42 Democratic margin. They could have picked any of the others, or the polling average, which also favors the Democrats.

(52,166 posts)The most competitive are PA, WI. GA, and NV we must have at least 3 of those go our way. The next set is AZ, NC, NH, and maybe OH. We need at least 2 of those to go our way. If we win all of the above, that gets us to 54, if we win 5 of the 8 that puts us at 51. Honestly I think we are likely to see 50, or 51 seats. Our only seats in danger are GA, NV, and maybe NH or AZ. Conversely we are favored in PA and WI with NC looking decent. But the national numbers don't matter for this.

(3,874 posts)and NC is also in play. NH and AZ are not in danger, especially not AZ, where Kelly is ahead by almost as much as Fetterman in PA. And Cortez-Masto has surged in NV, and Ryan is pretty secure in OH.
Would be nice to win them all, and that doesn't look like it is as impossible as it did three months ago.
