Just looked at my profile and realized I've been with you folx longer than I've been with my wife, and I'm dead serious I've come to this place at least once a day, every day, since I joined.

(6,558 posts)I joined DU after suffering through not quite a year of tfg undoing my lifetime of fighting for the environment, civil rights, women's rights, and educational advancements. It was devastating watching him destroy the things I had poured my heart and soul into for decades. My liberal younger brother steered me to this sanity saving site, and I bless him daily for sending me here. I too come here daily! From to

I use DU as my main source of news and information, and as a place of solace when the world goes mad, as it so often has in the last couple of decades.

(3,117 posts)And it has been much the same for me. I started visiting during the crazy election of 2000 and lurked for a few years before joining. I just kept returning as a comfort and reassurance that there are still sane people in this country, and have continued almost every day ever since!! So grateful for DUI!!

(714 posts)This is a forum but not a discussion forum.
It's interesting to see what other people think. But if your goal is to have a conversation with other people about what you think, that's really not going to happen here very often.
So I end up skimming a lot more than I end up posting.

(4,873 posts)There are so many of us who are quiet, but are just as much a part of this forum/family. Weve all laughed together. Been enraged together. Cried together, and supported each other. Its quite an experience here, we dont even feel as alone, in coming here. I, for one, feel grateful to everyone for being open, honest, well read, educated, wise, compassionate, supportive, and down right hysterically funny!!

(3,418 posts)I may be the champion low post person on DU considering how long I have been here. I visit DU everyday. Read numerous articles and posts. Most of what is said here reflects what I think. Most people say it better than I ever could.
To paraphrase Hotel California:
You can check in to DU, but you can never leave

Now, I'm guessing I'm older than you, because 21 years is only half as long as we've been married!
