Republicans Demand To Know What Happened To Vanishing GOP Millions

Rick Scott defrauded medicare and now has a new pot of money to steal from

“If they were a corporation, the CEO would be fired,” a national Republican consultant working on Senate races told the newspaper, referring to the committee.

“There needs to be an audit or investigation because we’re not gonna take the Senate now and this money has been squandered,” added the consultant, who spoke to the outlet on condition of anonymity. “It’s a rip-off.”

Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who chairs the NRSC, has been attacked by Republicans for featuring himself in ads and releasing a policy agenda that caused trouble for the GOP, leading to quips that “NRSC” stands for “National Rick Scott Committee.”

NRSC funds had reportedly reached $173 million this election cycle but were already down to $28.4 million by the end of June.

The committee spent more than $12 million on American Express credit card payments with an unclear purpose, along with $13 million for consultants and $9 million on debt payments, the Post said.

The Florida Democratic Party said Scott "oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in the nation’s history."

The Columbia/HCA settlement has since been surpassed in dollar value, though the bigger cases involved Medicare somewhat less directly. Because the Democratic Party could have been a bit more specific in its wording -- by saying that Scott oversaw the largest Medicare fraud at the time -- we rate the claim Mostly True.

The GOP need to audit Scoot and the Senate fund

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/19/gop-senate-rescue-midterms/

Republican Senate hopefuls are getting crushed on airwaves across the country while their national campaign fund is pulling ads and running low on cash — leading some campaign advisers to ask where all the money went and to demand an audit of the committee’s finances, according to Republican strategists involved in the discussions.

In a highly unusual move, the National Republican Senatorial Committee this week canceled bookings worth about $10 million, including in the critical states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Arizona. A spokesman said the NRSC is not abandoning those races but prioritizing ad spots that are shared with campaigns and benefit from discounted rates. Still, the cancellations forfeit cheaper prices that came from booking early, and better budgeting could have covered both.

“The fact that they canceled these reservations was a huge problem — you can’t get them back,” said one Senate Republican strategist, who like others spokes on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters. “You can’t win elections if you don’t have money to run ads.”

The NRSC’s retreat came after months of touting record fundraising, topping $173 million so far this election cycle, according to Federal Election Commission disclosures. But the committee has burned through nearly all of it, with the NRSC’s cash on hand dwindling to $28.4 million by the end of June.

GOP fundraising seems to have fallen in part due to TFG's fundraising efforts

The NRSC invested heavily in expanding its digital fundraising and building up its database of small-dollar donors. But online giving to Republicans, not just the NRSC, sagged earlier this year from what consultants said was a combination of inflation, changes to Facebook advertising policies, concerns about emails caught in spam filters, and complacency with an anticipated Republican wave. Some Republicans also suspect former president Donald Trump’s relentless fundraising pitches and cash hoarding has exhausted the party’s online donor base.

This will be a fun fight to watch

This reminds me of that episode of X-Files where a group of suburbanites decided to worship the devil, and after they reaped the rewards of their allegiance to Satan and got comfortable with their lifestyles, they decided to ignore the part about sacrifices to the devil, so the devil came to town in the shape of a Librarian and turned into a giant snake and them all up.

Only in real life, the devil doesn't have to look like a frail librarian, because these idiots can't recognize Satan even if he looks like Voldermort.

that would traditionally go to the NRSC and Scott steals whatever does come in.

It's the Perfect Storm of republican greed.

The republican list of crazy candidates has absolutely nothing to do with their lack of fundraising. Nothing at all, so stop saying that!

We need Bob Boudelang, angry American patriot, to make a return appearance on the pages of DU. He could explain it all in a way any Trumphumper could understand.

Rick Scott is taking an overseas vacation while the party is looking for the missing Senate campaign funds

https://www.axios.com/2022/08/23/rick-scott-senate-republicans-vacation-italy

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is spending part of his congressional recess on a luxury yacht in Italy with his family after criticizing President Biden for vacationing in Delaware, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: Scott is the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, whose job is to win back a GOP majority in the upper chamber. Republicans' prospects for winning back the Senate have been worsening over the course of the summer, according to polling and analysis.

Scott is already under fire for his management of the committee.
Vacationing in Europe while Republicans face cash problems and rough headlines about their midterm chances could further hurt his standing with his GOP colleagues.

....By the numbers: At the end of July, the NRSC reported just $23.2 million cash-on-hand. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee reported $54.1 million in its account, more than double the GOP amount.

"We’ve spent more than $40 million on TV while the DSCC has spent $2 million dollars. If you spend money, you have less of it," Hartline told Axios.

Zoom out: If House Republicans coast to victory while Senate Republicans fail to pick up the one seat necessary to win a majority, Scott is poised to be the GOP’s fall guy. It would be a rare setback for the Florida politician, who has beaten long odds before and boasts an undefeated record in his own campaigns.

The Democrats need to thank TFG for sucking up all of the small donors and Rick Scott for being an asshole who cannot run this campaign

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/democratic-senate-campaign-fundraising-outpaces-gop-fourth-straight-mo-rcna44133

The committee tasked with electing more Democrats to the Senate is reporting a $10 million haul in July, outpacing its Republican counterpart for the fourth month in a row, according to numbers first released to NBC News.

With less than three months until the November elections, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee appears to be in a more formidable financial position, with $54.1 million cash on hand, well more than double the $23 million left in the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s account.

The NRSC reported about $8 million in fundraising in July.

The DSCC’s $10 million total last month is down from the $12.5 million it raised in June, when, it said, there was a surge in donations after the Supreme Court struck down constitutional protections for abortion.

The fundraising figures were reported amid increasing questions over whether Republican can wrest control of the 50-50 Senate from Democrats in a midterm year that had been predicted to be favorable to them.
