https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/mount-vernon/1000-firearms-seized-after-two-bothers-shot-in-standoff/MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (WCMH) Authorities seized more than 1,000 firearms after a standoff between two brothers and law enforcement lasted several hours Saturday, resulting in the brothers being killed by law enforcement.
The incident started late Friday night and ran into Saturday morning, ending with brothers Randy Wilhelm, 56, and Bradley Wilhelm, 53, being shot and killed after both men, allegedly armed, charged at law enforcement officers, the Knox County Sheriffs Office said.
According to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, officers were acting under a search warrant for Randy Wilhelm and all firearms on the property.
After the shooting, the sheriffs office asked Yosts Bureau of Criminal Investigation to continue the search of the property. The BCI seized more than 1,000 firearms, mostly sporting shotguns and hunting rifles, and more than 140,000 rounds of ammunition.
According to the sheriffs office, Randy Wilhelm was under indictment in Knox County for charges including intimidation, menacing by stalking, bribery, felonious assault, and domestic violence.
The BCIs investigation remains ongoing.

More than 1,000 firearms and 140,000 rounds of ammunition were seized from the Mount Vernon compound of a man shot and killed in a standoff with deputies over the weekend, according to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Authorities said Randy Wilhelm, 56, a proficient marksman, had fired gunshots at a bail bondsman late Friday night after the man tried to apprehend Wilhelm, who had skipped a court date on a $100,000 bond over a separate indictment. When officers responded to the bondsmans 911 call, a multi-agency standoff ensued with Randy and his 53-year-old brother, Bradley Wilhelm. A police helicopter called to assist was shot at, as were three armored police vehicles, according to deputies. Randy allegedly threatened to use a nearby bulk propane tank as a bomb if law enforcement attempted to arrest him. The standoff concluded around 9:20 a.m. the following morning, when the Wilhelm brothers charged at officers in a side-by-side utility task vehicle. Both men were then fatally shot.

(4,569 posts)If a violent crime involving firearms is involved however, it seems to me they should be confiscated (although I suppose the gun lobby/nuts would have a shit fit if such were the policy).

(12,449 posts)they can petition the court, but the judge can refuse or release just a portion of them and order the rest destroyed or disposed of.

(82,849 posts)They were gonna show them cops, boy, and strike a blow for freedom. Unfortunately, it appears they didn't realize that they couldn't fire all the guns at once, and now they're dead and their weapons and ammo are in someone else's hands.

(24,895 posts)I don't care how many guns you have but if they're 10 or 15 cops guns pointed at you you're not going to walk away if you pull up to them and start shooting.
I think this may have been a double suicide which is kind of weird for two brothers. Weird for sisters for that matter although that couple of sisters did a double euthanasia a couple months ago. At least those two were trying to hurt anybody else.

The hope is that enough of them get sick of the denial, the manipulation, betrayal and reduction to drones, and regain some sense of reality.
For their sake and the sake of others.
