Carl Paladino loses House bid to state party chair in closely watched racehttps://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2022-election/heated-gop-house-primary-new-york-pits-carl-paladino-state-party-chair-rcna44174
Nick Langworthy, chairman of the New York GOP, bested Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino in a western New York primary brawl that doubled as a proxy battle between some of the state's most influential Republicans, NBC News projects.
The primary for New Yorks redrawn 23rd Congressional District, spanning the Buffalo suburbs through the southwestern part of the state, had been a 12-week sprint after Rep. Chris Jacobs, R-N.Y., announced he would not seek re-election after he expressed support for a ban on assault-style weapons. There was a separate special election Tuesday to fill the brief remainder of Jacobs turn.
Langworthy, who was up about 4 points over Paladino shortly before midnight E.T., surged ahead based on the strength of his support in the state's southwestern region while much of Paladino's support was concentrated in the Buffalo suburbs.
Paladino's defeat came 12 years after he cruised to the party's 2010 nomination for governor before he suffered a crushing loss that fall to Andrew Cuomo.

(1,962 posts)Growing up in the late 60s and 1970s, I remember WWF wrestling and Tanaka/Fuji were one of the heel tag teams. I always liked Tanaka- the guy was built like a tank and could do some good martial arts moves, also.
I haven't watched wrestling in years; the "attitude era" soured me and I liked the days of the different territories before Vince McMahon went national in the 1980s.

(24,504 posts)Best real time theater happening in the USA. Not like it was choreographed in pre-win/lose situation....the script got written after the results. Saw the greatest breakout wrestling contest ever. Late 60's? Out of the Portland Expo onto Deering Avenue. Gorilla Monsoon? Can't remember...but it was pre-WWE.
Also liked Roller Skating. No acting going on there....
