We were talking about her, last night. Everyone agreed that she deserved a bit of respect for taking a stand she KNEW would result in her losing in the primary. But that's where it ends. At her core, she remains an un-evolved right wing troglodyte.

(92,204 posts)trump and his followers, who are essentially the republican party, to propel Democrats into office?
That is why I see very little advantage, two months before the midterms, to characterize her as "insufficent evil"

(3,626 posts)The US and Russia were allies in WW2. What happened later was, well, later. I'm sure I won't be Liz Cheney's ally a few years from now, but that's a few years from now and right now we can use all the help we can get.

(102,283 posts)Liberal heroine as if the majority of DUers were unsophisticated, uneducated bumpkins. Honestly, how many here are naive' enough to think she is on our side on all things and NOT ONLY on the issue of Trump and the constitution? The latter is quite enough for the moment and most Americans DO realize that risks to our democracy are the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE facing the nation (per recent polling).
Yet some feel that focusing on the risks to our democracy is somehow the same as FORGETTING our own values and those who don't share many/most of them. ENOUGH! For those who truly believe that praising Liz Cheney for doing ONE THING in her career that benefits democracy is somehow the same as supporting her for future office, well, I'm glad they weren't around to harangue FDR about his choice of necessary if distasteful allies to defeat Hitler and. HIrohito. Maybe time to learn from history, eh?

(10,434 posts)Most here do realize what a vile snake she is, and that there is a good reason for her to co-chair the J6 committee and her help there should be gladly accepted for exactly what it is.
But not quite everyone. There were some who do need to be reminded.

(21,132 posts)I personally enjoy watching them bloody themselves. I don't think she is worthy of praise, though because she fights for good causes 1 in every 1000 times rather than every 1001.

(10,434 posts)The point I take is that as bad as she is, she isn't bad enough for today's republicons.

(4,552 posts)It is kinda like having a bb gun fight. Come on the guy got a couple of new pimples. No harm no foul.
If trump was a real man he would go hunting with Liz.
It would be great if a reporter would ask him to go hunting with Liz.

Anyway I seem to recall that it was Cheney's own lawyer that he shot. Maybe they settled out of court.

Yes a shotgun will blow a huge hole in you. It was the gun that won the west.

(11,425 posts)be in their group anymore. Liz is on the 1/6 committee to protect NEOCON interest and that's it. James Baker III, fixer for the BFEE is retired, Liz is taking over. A lot of hard work went into starting wars for profit and stealing the money to have the fascist steal it from them.

(129 posts)In the news, this morning, a Republican politician said that Biden's forgiving student debt was "not fair to students who had to pay".
That's like saying "if I was screwed, everyone else after me should be screwed."
Change for the better? Yikes! We can't have that!

(2,738 posts)Her value is that she is a conservative and she recognizes and effectively calls out Trump and his many enablers.
We don't need her to convert to being a liberal. We need her exactly as she is. A conservative fighting with every fiber of her being to stop Trump from being re-elected in 2024 and to stop the authoritarian takeover of the country.
We need her in the job of warrior for democracy, not president. A good thing because there is no path for her to actually become president. Perhaps she'll run, but she knows as much as any other that she cannot win a Republican primary or a Democratic one and that running as an independent would threaten to split the vote and allow Trump to win.

(22,803 posts)we should never forget that she is an ultra-conservative Republican who would be a disaster as president.

(666 posts)Let's cut Liz just a little slake. First of all, she is not a bigoted Christian asshole. Both she and her father (NO slake for for Dick the war monger!!) both came around on gay people. And I'm not sure I agree with all the things she's supposedly against. I am old enough to remember when conservative was not synonymous with evil. The fact is that the current Repug party is not the least bit conservative. It is a party of radical reactionaries and religious nuts. I don't think we should condemn Liz for her past. History will not remember her for her past, but it will remember her for her stand against Trump. Let's look to the future. In my opinion the Repug party is going to collapse into an isolated wingnut minority party and the true conservatives will coalesce around people like Liz, Kinzinger, Murkowski, George Conway and yes, even Mitt to form an actual conservative party. I believe a sane conservative party would be good for the country. I live in a red state, but I know many people that would gravitate to a new party. Let's not act like Repugs and automatically stereotype people as evil just because they have honest philosophical disagreements with us. Remember, compromise is the essence of democracy.

(5,299 posts)She is currently an enemy of our enemy.
There is a difference. The enemy of my enemy is using me to accomplish their goals, but is quite willing to turn on us when the higher-priority enemy is taken care of.
Failing to recognize this is how we got the Taliban.

(9,148 posts)Rep. Cheney (or Kinzinger) should not be lionized for clearing the lowest bar of honoring her oath to defend the Constitution.
...while the rest of the Congressional GOP should be excoriated for breaking theirs.
