until 2024, so they are gradually cutting the cord. Murdoch probably wants to move away from Trump as well. I think he got fed up with the ex-president awhile back.

On one hand this is a good thing, but the thought of DeSantis waiting in the wings is horrifying. I honestly think he could be worse than Trump in many ways.

I hope OUR side is also thinking longterm.

The enemy is formidable, and very good at it. And YES, I choose that word(enemy) deliberately. They’re against everything we’re for, and for everything we’re against. And not just “differences of opinion”, either. Actively, strategically, deliberately, and as they used to say in my karate classes, “with intention”.

Here is a link which shows Paul Ryan openly states that he wants to move the board away from Trump

https://www.businessinsider.com/paul-ryan-position-fox-board-reign-in-trump-report-2019-9

Murdoch's younger son James has moved further and further to the left over the years, influenced in part by his wife.

In 2020 he completed the transition by aggressively supporting Biden and Democrats. Their daughter works for the Clinton foundation. In 2020 he resigned from FOXNews Corp Board.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Murdoch
But both James and Kathryn Murdoch have donated cash to various left-leaning and anti-Trump super PACs. This cycle, James and Kathryn Murdoch contributed a total of roughly $12.2 million to federal committees, ranking 25th on OpenSecrets’ list of top donors. She contributed $500,000 to Pacronym, focused on backing Democrats in closely-watched races. She also donated $540,000 to the Democratic Future Forward PAC, and $300,000 to Unite the Country, a pro-Biden PAC.

Their side has to make such plans because they are up to their neck in machinations.

Our cable news side shouldn't be concerned with machinations, just pursue the truth.

CNN cans one of its more honest journalists despite his show's popularity and profitability while Fox cuts TFG off (or seems to). He'll need to find or fund other sources to gratify his center-of-attention needs.
That equation is, after this bit of horse trading, no great awakening of truth but instead the media gets thrown even farther off the bias. It's one less voice sharing actual/factual truth to power with people for their edification. While on the other hand, Fox simply moves to creating the next trumped-up opportunity to erode the national character, providing wholesale poison for all.

Funny how the Truth can be found when one's rope becomes a thread; although, a thread is more difficult to climb out of one's hole that they dug, it can be done by offloading one's unneeded and unwanted baggage.

The answers are found within one's self.

Where now and then, Fox reluctantly tells the truth, usually after multiple lies on the air and earlier versions on the website. Then they can say, "Why, we told the truth. See right here." Color me unimpressed.
