It is that we do not know what information may have been passed to a third party or to an adversary?
Our intelligence is in unknown territory at this time.
We do not know if all the documents have been recovered yet.
We do not know what information may have been passed to adversarial countries regarding "assets" in their countries. (We do know that Khashoggi was discovered by the Saudis and murdered)
We do not know if nuclear secrets were exposed.
Do we really need a CIA "assessment" to understand this?
The damage cannot be assessed at this time. It is unknown.
It may have been contained to some degree or it may have been the biggest spy operation in history?

(4,845 posts)the IC and government would treat them as they were leaked already. We have to re-establish and rearrange everything that were related in those documents. That's a huge damage whether it's truly given to foreign country or not.
That would make sense.

to learn the identities of Western assets in his circle? Or to learn more about how the West was collecting intelligence on Russia. Would he pretend to like Тяцмp and say nice things about him? Maybe send him a beautiful letter? Would he open his country to Тяцмp or allow a Тяцмp Tower or golf course to be built?
Im speculating, but I think thats the con. I dont know that such information was in the documents, but that seems to be consistent with Тяцмps MO.

We need to make an example of Mr. Trump. We must discourage future fascists from ever even THINKING ABOUT IT.
Calling Merrick Garland. Calling Merrick Garland.

He should be punished most severely.

(73,558 posts)Yes, the CIA assessment is a good thing. They will focus on what Trump & Co. shared with Russia and Saudi Arabia. They will coordinate this with the FBI.

They may be gathering up all the players?
I do. I am only speculating, but consider it "informed speculation," though I could be wrong. There are, in my opinion, indicators that the Intelligence Community was aware of something that required them to execute the warrant. It may be Trump's relationship with those connected to Russia, and/or his and Jared's ties with Saudi Arabia. Methods & sources of gathering information per Russia. and information on Iran for Saudi Arabia.
