DOJ officials say they can't rely on what Trump's lawyers tell them because he often ignores advice

Justice Department officials assume that they can't rely on what former President Donald Trump's lawyers say given Trump's volatility as a client.

That's according to The New York Times, which reported that department officials have been in communication with Trump's representatives for months while trying to recover hundreds of pages of government records that were improperly moved from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after Trump left office.

The report cited Justice Department officials saying they work under the assumption that his lawyers cannot "speak with authority" for Trump because he can change his mind at the drop of a hat and may withhold information from his own attorneys.

The Times' reporting squares with what former prosecutors and lawyers who worked for Trump told Insider earlier this week.

Who knows what other secrets he's squirreling away in hiding places around the world? Who knows how many he's already divulged or sold? Who knows the harm he's already done and will do if he remains free?

and/or doesn't pay their bill or is generally a PITA, but I can't imagine a client like TFG, the client from the lowest, hottest circle of Hell who not only lies and doesn't pay, but who puts you in the hot seat. At this point any lawyers who agree to represent that lunatic are right morons who deserve whatever happens to them.

Everyone who deals with Trump should be schooled in this.

For starters, the best thing you can do is not deal with them. Cut them out of your life, because they will turn on you. Does the phrase "You knew i was a snake when you let me in your house" ring a bell?

Secondly, they lie. Compulsively. They will lie and take a loss rather than tell the truth and gain from it.

Third, they don't care about you. They don't care about anyone but themselves, regardless of how persuasive and charming they can be.

Fourth, they turn on a dime. They react to what they want at that particular time, like a child. If they need to hurt people to satisfy their whim, they are fine with that.

Five. They are often irrational. They see the world the way they want to see it, regardless of actual facts. Other people's opinions and truths don't matter to them.

I could go on. My point is, it seems to me everybody could save a lot of time and aggravation by understanding exactly what they are dealing with upfront.
