https://www.thedailybeast.com/young-americans-are-using-cannabis-and-hallucinogens-at-record-rateThe current crop of American youngsters are officially the highest ever as researchers found theyre using more weed and hallucinogenic drugs than any other generation since recordkeeping began.
A survey of people age 19 to 30 run by the National Institutes of Health found the record high in data collected between April and October 2021. The number of young adults saying theyd had cannabis in the last year (43 percent), past month (29 percent), or daily (11 percent) has never been higher since the survey started in 1988.
Meanwhile, 8 percent of people asked had used a hallucinogen in the past year. Spikes were recorded in the use of LSD, mescaline, peyote, magic mushrooms, and PCP.
Only MDMAaka Molly or ecstasy or disco biscuitssaw a drop, from 5 percent in 2020 to 3 percent in 2021.

Cocaine use was reported by 2.5% of adults ages 35 to 50 in 2021 (Figure 33), with no significant changes in the past 10 years. By age stratum, there was a range of 4.2% at age 35 descending to 0.8% at age 60 (Table 26).
Cocaine use in the past 12 months was higher among college than noncollege young adults (3.9% vs. 3.3%) in 2021 (Table 27).

(50,559 posts)Is because state-licensed cannabis stores exist now?
There are four good reasons besides piss testing not to smoke illegal weed.
It might be crap that wont get a fly high.
It could be the same crap with other drugs mixed in, like PCP.
The dealer could be a cop wholl bust your ass the second you reach for your money.
Or the dealer could be a mugger wholl pull a gun on you and take your money, phone and car.
Go to a state-licensed weed store and all that goes away. You know its pure weed. You know the levels of the two most interesting cannabinoids, THC and CBD, in the bag youre buying because a certified analysis has been done on it. The only cop in the place is the guy behind you who wants an eighth for himself. And the dealer is a really cute young lady in a pot leaf-printed dress whose hair is thirteen different colors.
Its safe to indulge now, so why the hell wouldnt you?

(3,168 posts)I cannot smoke or eat edibles, I get way too high on pot. I used smoke it when I was younger. Back when you could buy a four finger bag for ten bucks, and I'd spend an hour removing stems and seeds. A different product back then. Pot today is wicked.

That's okay considering how many still abuse drinking alcohol. My sister, brother, and Mom all died from alcoholism, so go ahead and tell me about the evils of smoking pot vs. drinking. To me, drinking is evil, for it seems to entail more, more, and more, till it never stops. That's why I admire those that stop this evil in its tracks, before it gains a toehold in their lives. Don't!

Kids don't have to worry so much about the cops or other community enforcers these days.
This study starts in 1988, I was a few years into responsible adulthood by then.
