Limit Student Loan interest rates to 1%

Instead of arguing over forgiving student loans, may I propose that Democrats offer a bill limiting Student Loan rates to no more than 1%. Why should our Government or ANY1 be allowed to charge such rates as high as even 12 or 13% on loans meant to educate our citizens?

Way back in the day student loans were like 1 or 2% interest. They were federal loans if memory serves me correctly

I know several people who have paid the original loan amount back entirely and STILL owe a back-breaking amount of money because the interest is just obscene.

3. Interest rate is obsolete now

With the income based repayment plans Biden just announced. Interest rate is no longer relevant. You’re going to have your remaining balance forgiven at the end of 20 years of paying and a lot of that will be interest.

Pay back what you borrowed and not the abusive interest. Use the overnight lending rate that banks use.

How many members of US here at DU, & none of US know how to reach the media & DNC party leaders re: reasonable solutions to real problems?


Corporate media at CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC & especially FOX have such a stranglehold on US all for DIVISIVE political ratings that simple solutions are ignored?


Why? Our whole nation could win with GREAT RATINGS too.
