I think they actually managed to thread the needle on student debt

I didn't think it could be done, but they did it.

This helps people who need help (particularly the new income driven rules with a payment cap at 5% of income above 225% of the FPL) without giving a six-figure check to dentists and management consultants.

Now we need to elect enough Democrats to finish the job and reform college tuition and fees.

The new payment cap at 5% of income above 150% of the FPL is a real game-changer. The problem is getting people on the IDR plans. I hope that they can just mass move everyone making less than 150% of the FPL to a $0 payment plan.

They changed the calculation on discretionary income to exempt 2.25 times FPL.

This is the part of the bill that does a lot to fix the system.

That's huge. A single mom with one kid making $27K pays nothing. If she's making $30K her monthly payment is $12.50. That's awesome.
