My beef with college tuition

Last edited Thu Aug 25, 2022, 09:46 AM - Edit history (1)

I’ve said this for years.

The price difference between Ivy League schools, regional private schools and middle or low tier private schools is virtually non-existent.

If you think of it like a car, the Tesla, BMW, Ford, the Lexus, the Jag - all basically the same price. There are just more Fords available.

Makes no sense.

Edited to add "private". Of course public colleges and universities are cheaper - but not all of them offer same opportunities. Religious colleges are often cheaper as well.

Point is with any product, the premium "brand" typically costs more. Other brands typically cost less.

With private colleges and universities, this doesn't apply -- asking why that happened. Saying it is wrong.

Not saying people can't go to public colleges or universities. Many do.

especially if you are in a dorm.

That's why I focused on tuition.

and made a commitment to have no student live more than 50 miles from a public university, that is unusual as well. Ohio might be the cheapest place to do a 4 year degree due to that.
