(66,436 posts)I paid all of mine in full. Took me seven years. But I did it. And I'll be perfectly happy if no one else has to go through that, or pay those outrageous interest rates.

(115,806 posts)because it wasn't a crushing debt the size of a mortgage the way some are now. So I'm glad if some people are getting relief from that burden. And fuck anybody who's mad just because someone else got something they didn't get.

(61,696 posts)I think working while an undergrad helped me stay disciplined. And I was fortunate enough to be "smart enough" (just barely) to go to college. I'm happy for those getting relief.

(2,807 posts)I'm hearing a lot of whatabouttery on this.
And my question is, "Okay, I'm listening. What do you suggest we do differently? If there's a better way to do this I'm all for it."
But nobody I've seen is offering any alternatives. Just complaining.
So DU, is there a better way?

(7,852 posts)after I graduated and worked two jobs to get my husband through law school (we both had student loans), it took us another 6 years to pay off our loans...and because of that he and I agreed we would do whatever it took to make sure our children graduated college/law school debt free, and they did..every generation wants better for the next...thank you Joe Biden..my grandchildren will not have to carry the burden of debt my husband and I had to carry...
