This makes it more than clear why DOJ did not want this released.
People are going to start running, and turning up dead.
Just my guess.

In all honesty, I would love to have seen something like that. I did see some general inside-closet shots in the print and TV news coverage, but wouldn't have minded more.

(4,569 posts)Ten pallbearers doesn't necessarily mean the casket was all that heavy. Maybe they just had ten folks that wished to be pallbearers.
As well, with no body in the casket, how much weight would be added over and above the normal range by a bunch of paper?
Also, it seems to me that there would be many better ways of hiding documents that burying them in a well known location (and, in this case, the casket would have to secretly dug up if the docs were to be retrieved later).

(2,845 posts)in relation to the missing documents. In addition, with the strange addiction to tunnels Trump seems to have, I wouldn't put it past him to have a tunnel built to that first hole so he doesn't have to have that grave dug up... he can access that casket at his leisure from the safety of his own specially built room. If he did it for Rudy, I can certainly see it being done for something to save or profit his own hide.

2) How much does one ream of paper weigh?
Average weight is five pounds. Ten reams per box is 50 pounds. Fifteen boxes times fifty pounds is 750 pounds.
As someone who's shuffled pounds of paper during her preretirement lifetime I can attest to the fact that paper is way heavier than it appears. (Pun intended)
Then there's this...
Casket Weights Complete Guide for All Types & Size
https://in-valhalla.com/casket-weights/
The average casket weight is about 200 pounds. It can weigh up to 450 pounds or more depending on the structure, material, and size of the casket.
For burials at sea, the EPA recommends the casket weigh at least 300 pounds (136 kg). If the casket is less, they recommend adding sand or concrete.
Most often, high-end caskets weigh much more than the inexpensive types. For metal caskets, the high-end options are those made of bronze or copper.
Snip...
How Heavy Is A Casket When Carried by Pallbearers?
The 200-pound average weight of a casket does not include the body weight.
The average weight that pallbearers carry is the sum of the casket weight and body weight. The average adult male body weighs about 198 pounds while an average female adult body weighs about 171 pounds. With this, pallbearers would have to carry about 370 to 400 pounds for a standard casket with an average-sized body.
Some caskets are much heavier.
Casket Weight According to Material
Overall casket weight is often determined by the material used. Common casket materials are metal and wood, and there are several other types under these two categories. Other popular caskets are made of bronze and copper, stainless steel, pine, and wicker.
Snip...
A high-end hardwood casket made of walnut or mahogany will weigh from 240 to 285 pounds. A mid-range hardwood casket weighs about 165 to 215 pounds. Almost all hardwood caskets have a maximum capacity of up to 500 pounds.
Snip...
A bronze or copper casket weighs about 260 to 310 pounds, while steel caskets only weigh about 170 to 220 pounds.
Almost all metal caskets have a maximum capacity of 500 pounds.
Snip...more at the link.
I also believe that the FBI could probably get a court order to exhume the burial and would not need to even consider digging it up in secret.

(4,569 posts)reports that the 10 pallbearers were apparently struggling from the weight of the thing? If that is so, then yes, it's a strange situation alright. I dunno, just wondering, but is there a high water table at the burial area? If so, maybe they add extra weight to the casket to prevent any possibility of it floating/drifting upwards over time.
Anyhow, I realize that boxes of packaged paper can be surprisingly heavy but I don't think that applies to loose "documents" (unless they have been tightly compacted for some reason). You say there would be 10 reams of paper comprising each box (of documents) i.e. the document paper would be as tightly packed as the original boxes which I don't think is realistic (why would the document papers be squashed in so tightly?).
I still contend there are much better ways of hiding documents than stashing them in a casket (assuming the intent was to retreive them at some later time - otherwise why not just destroy them?). OTOH, we have Trump(s) at play here so who knows what bonkers things they would do??
Edit to add:
By secretly digging up the casket to retrieve the documents later I was thinking of Trump or some other bad actor digging it up, not the FBI.

EXCLUSIVE: The Real Scandal in Donald Trumps Historic Theft of Classified Records Is Not What You Think
As a Trump biographer whos written more best-sellers on Trumps presidency than any other author, Ive a very different view of the current classified-records scandal involving Trump and Mar-a-Lago.
Its important for Americans to understand not just that what Trump did is actuallyfor himunsurprising, but also why its unsurprising. Because its becoming clear that behind the scandal everyone in major media whos not a Trump biographer is focused on right now is a far larger scandal that will soon descend upon America. This real scandal could have lasting consequences for the United States well beyond anything now being contemplated.
We must remember that Trump had barely settled in at the White House before he was divulging highly classified military intelligence from Israel to top Kremlin agents inside the Oval Officethereafter explaining away this historic breach of national security (and an unprecedented betrayal of a leading American ally) by saying he had declassified the intelligence he divulged in situ. It was universally agreed, at the time, by political journalists and Trump biographers and even certain Trump allies, that Trump had been intending to show off the accoutrements of his new presidency (which include highly classified intelligence materials) to his longtime allies inside the Kremlin, and that it was for this reason that he risked the lives of countless people in the Middle East. Behind his desire to impress the Kremlin, of course, was the realityonly dimly appreciated back in May of 2017that he had just spent the last four years trying to close a Trump Tower Moscow deal he knew required Kremlin pre-clearance.
....Throughout the Trump presidencyas I detailed in Proof of Conspiracy (Macmillan, 2019)Trump secretly used unsecure phones to pass classified intelligence, a practice first disclosed in 2018. It was, many observed at the time, almost like Trump wanted to have his calls intercepted by hostile foreign powers. Certainly, it was universally understood by 2018 that he had declared war on the American intelligence community and routinely accepted foreign intel (including even known Russian disinformation) as being superior to American SIGINT, HUMINT, MASINT, IMINT, and OSINT. Told that certain things he claimed to believe were really part and parcel of foreign psy-ops campaigns designed to weaken American national security, Trump would habitually ask only one question of anything he had read: whether it benefitted him personally.
...And if major media accidentally catches a glimpse of the real scandal here while it is breathlessly reporting on the ho-hum investigation of an open-and-shut criminal case, will it decide that the possibility of Trump doing what everyone in America knows he is capable of is simply too salacious to be reported out? As we saw during both the Trump-Russia and Trump-Ukraine scandals, if conduct by Trump is considered too dastardly to be accepted as having actually happened by the average news-watcher, major-media will give it short shrift or else not report it at allthe better to ensure that it does not lose credibility with (and therefore future profits from) its audience.
Lots and lots of good analysis and basis for a 'theory of the case', IMHO...maybe not everything will turn out as he says, but given the sociopath we are dealing with his starting point is probably a lot closer than most think to reality.
It has been really, really bad...
