Judge declines to require hand count of Arizona ballots

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/judge-declines-to-require-hand-count-of-arizona-ballots/ar-AA118Sv7?pc=U483&cvid=1134c7548488480ea9cbe6031900b381

PHOENIX (AP) — A federal judge refused Friday to require that Arizona officials count ballots by hand in November, dismissing a lawsuit filed by the Republican nominees for governor and secretary of state based on false claims of problems with vote-counting machines.

Kari Lake, who is running for governor, and Mark Finchem, a secretary of state candidate, won their GOP primaries after aggressively promoting the narrative that the 2020 election was marred by fraud or widespread irregularities.

Their lawsuit repeated unfounded allegations about the security of machines that count votes. They relied in part on testimony from Donald Trump supporters who led a discredited review of the election in Maricopa County, including Doug Logan, the CEO of Cyber Ninjas, who oversaw the effort described by supporters as a “forensic audit.”

U.S. District Judge John Tuchi ruled that Lake and Finchem lack standing to sue because they failed to show any realistic likelihood of harm and that their lawsuit must be brought in state, not federal, court. He also ruled that it is too close to the election to upend the process.

Wrong court
Doug Logan as a witness
No likelihood of harm
Too close to the election

Somehow they imagined a different result?

Probably more chance for shenanigans with a hand count than a machine count... Wounded Bear Aug 2022 #2

..4 people in a closed off room.... two of us would count and two verified our count...2 from the Ds and two from the Rs. it went pretty quickly and i got to bond with some great folks...back at that time the parties didnt hate each other. we were always 100% correct in our count and it didnt take that long.

This is a long term Republican strategy. They are testing, probing, looking for weaknesses they can exploit, cheating methods that will serve them in the future. Loser nut case candidates are perfect guinea pigs on which to try out every dirty trick in the book so that when it comes to 2024, they know which of their dirty tricks work, and which are a waste of time.

Lake is certifiable and it’s possible in her fever dreams she thought this was viable, but the people who are funding and advising her probably counted on it failing as that allows them to continue riling up the base about how “unfair” the system is to the GOP and of course continue the fundraising grift.

has a pernicious anti-democratic aim at its base.

There are the misguided conspiracy whackos -- and then there are malignant elements that wish to monkey-wrench the system. The latter have more power, money - and lasting effect.

(And I post this every time someone brings this up)

NOTHING about the fraudit by the Cyber Ninjas should be taken seriously--NOT even that it added votes to President Biden's margin.

Cyber Ninjas report on their findings and the subsequent response by Maricopa County only go to show that Cyber Ninjas have no clue about election procedures or about audits.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about their findings in AZ should be taken seriously. They are clueless political hacks.

They had no right to share sensitive information with public news sources so now things are more hackable and less secure.
