My girlfriend has a co-op that helps local artists from painting to music get a good start and recognition. She normally hosts events once a month with food trucks, events and such. I asked her if I could do a story telling hour with books that are being banned by the state government (Texas). She loved the idea and said October's event I can do so.
If anyone has any great book suggestions I'd love to hear them

(145 posts)Fellows DUers ..please share as many titles as you can - - this is just GREAT!!!! Love, love, love this concept. While I follow all the stories about banned books, specific titles would be amazing because I forget them from story to story to story about which state is banning what books.

"Black history is American history," Irvin continued. "You can't have one without the other. I can't go to your history and tell you, 'hey x that out of your life, that didn't happen.'"
Irvin told WFAA he suspects the first chapter, which details Dawson's friend's lynching after he was wrongly accused of raping a white woman, could be the problem.
If George Dawson could witness that horror when he was 10, I think the children of Southlake can learn about it when they're 12.
